No Sound
When I play some steam games so far The Letter and Halo I don't get any sound to play. I can only get sound when I plug in headphones. Then the sound will work. I want to fix it so that I can have the sound without having to have my headset on for these games. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

I have checked the volume mixer which is set at maximum and checked that my sound default is set to my laptops speakers.

Go to steam setting menu - Audio - set the stereo head phone to stereo speaker. and check the master volume either. then you can hear the sound from speakers or PC. if this doesn't work, check the speaker if this broken, and check in put line too.

most games will generall default to the default sound device on your computer. Some games will let you select the device post launch in the options. You might want to see what devices are on by default

Are you using more than one sound device and/or another monitor or TV?

Because as others have said here, many games will simply choose the default sound device. I get it a fair bit as I use my laptop plugged into a TV. It can even do it after all the startup and cutscenes, then change in game.

The simple way to fix this is to go into Windows settings. Select audio devices and disable all but the one you wish to use. Then it should pick it up normally.
