If you use WeMod with a VAC protected game, you will get VAC banned.

it's ok for story mode games

So long as it isn't a game that uses VAC you are fine meaning Stray is good.

Only use it for singleplayer games. Never try to cheat in multiplayer.

It usually doesn't even work with multiplayer and just turns off instead from what I understand.

Cheating on Steam goes against the Code of Conduct.
Since WeMod is designed to provide cheats, you can't use it on Steam.
You're free to use it outside of Steam however; and you can discuss it, but not promote its use.

I wanted it for a single player game. You have to pay anyway....

code of conduct?

not sure what that is referring to

but there are mods and workshop items that help people cheat on lots of games on steam

using it within a multiplayer game will get them a ban

but in single players, nobody really cares

And why would they care about single player anyway? If they banned people for that it would just piss people off.

Read the steam subscriber agreement, section 4
https://store.steampowered.com/subscriber_agreement/#4
It refers to a more generalized piece of paper, the Online Code of Conduct.
https://store.steampowered.com/online_conduct/
Both of these documents state the rules around cheating on Steam.

The banned will most often get upset about being banned.
Why would they care...

Are you supposed to play the game with third party provided cheats, or without?
Must every gamer cheat?
It is about promoting cheats for one.
It is also about the consequences for other players when there is for example a ranking system or achievement set locked behind effort which, most often is made at the very least easier if not bypassed completely using cheats.

You can get banned for cheating in singleplayer games, depending on what you do on Steam. Posting screenshots to show how great you are and how much better the experience is with cheats for example, thereby promoting cheating, will likely get you banned if this behavior is reported.
