You need to test the wifi connection. Any pin spikes , Loss, Choke will likely be the cause of your issue. 5Ghz should be fine in close proximity to the router/wired dock but if you're taking the deck into other rooms you maybe better of using 2.4Ghz. Even then there are so many things that will affect quality of the signal.
I don't have a Deck or I'd suggest ways for you to test the wifi quality to identify issues.
As for cables you don't better from anything above a Cat 6 cable with those speeds
Cat 5e Upto 1Gbps
Cat 6 Upto 1Gbps
Cat 6a Upto 10Gbps
Cat 7 Upto 10Gbps
Cat 8 Upto 40Gbps
Every other device runs flawless on the network either 2.4 or 5 all solid. No connection drops, hiccups or issues. It's JUST the steam link to deck we noticed. Max 30Mbps connection I seen now and will not be higher.
I will try a different WiFi on the deck and see if that makes a change and maybe open the ports if I can on both the deck and link maybe?
Something tells me it's the deck because when playing Riders Republic the screen cuts out for a second to black and back and there is also a slight delay when playing Wreckfest and you can see it.
