DC Universe Online - error: could not create 3D device

The startup page comes up. but when I click start after a few seconds i get the error: could not create 3d device message come up and the game fails to load.

I have just bought a new gaming laptop with Windows 11, installed the game fresh, done all updates including graphics and D3D.

I have also changed the start up option in steam to -windowed and also tried putting in the resolution to match my laptop resolution and putting in a recommended resolution -w 1920 h 1080.

Tried searching but all solutions fail.

What am I missing?

usually this is due to the game not using your gaming laptops' GPU

Force the game to us teh GPU through either the Nvidia Control Panel or the AMD thing

Oh never tried this. but after forcing it it's still not working.

Tried US and EU Servers (I am in EU)
Tried forcing it to use Nvidia though Nvidia control panel
Tried forcing it through Windows settings

Set to windows 8 compatability

I have also tried in the launch options:

Direct X error. These are super hard to fix. I had this issue one time before with the sims 2 game. I never figured out how to fix it. I imagine reinstalling direct x might fix it...but i would have no clue how to do that.

Try changing the HRZ your monitor is running in. Like for example, if it is at 250 hrz, try changing to lower setting and see if that helps., like 150 hrz

Your laptop is fairly new and is a dual GPU system. The game however inadvertently takes the Intel UHD Graphics.

You can try setting the energy options to "high performance". It's possible the setting is initially hidden. In that case, you must reveal it first.

could be Windows Update fixing the drivers for you which it can do automatically as part of recurring updates. Anyway, good that it works now.
