Download speed has randomly slowed down.
I was downloading a game and my download speed was hovering around 2mb/s while a day ago it was getting 20+mb/s.

I have no idea why this is happening and I know it isn't a problem with my internet because other launchers like Epic Games and other devices like my PS5 are getting 20+mb download speeds.
Any "solution" I've found just tells me to clear my download cache or to change my download region. None of these worked so I'm hoping somebody could help me out.
Thanks.

A lot of people don't get how Steam works as it can be a bit different.

Steam's files are both encrypted and compressed. What this means is that it can APPEAR download speeds are bad, but they aint because other system resources are being used.

You can monitor this by looking at the graph on the downloads page as well as Windows Task Manager to see what's going on.

Also, don't use more than about 90% of your install drive's space as things will slow down too. Data that is downloaded needs to decompress, sort and unpack before being written to it's final destination. This means that your RAM, CPU, I/O, hard drive and more are relevant. Any one of those can caus a bottleneck.

And do also remember that Steam reports reports by default in megaBYTES per second rather than the usual megabits, so you might need to multiply the result by 8.

Other launchers have now started to download at the same slower speeds. I have tested on another PC and download speeds are fine there so I do not think it is a WiFi issue. Is there anyway to determine whether this is a hardware issue?
