STEAM NO LONGER OPENS - New glitch, Windows 11 and Steam Updates in tandem = wreck platform log in.
Hi,

Steam worked fine last week, now it no longer opens on my computer.

I have removed it, put it back on, cache, all of it, and I appear to have no access to Steam anymore. Really odd, sounds just like a Steam and Windows 11 updates in tandem, working in harmony to basically stop me having access to it.

Steam update, same day as the forced Microsoft 11 update, hmm, most suspect indeed.

Steam, sort it out, I have paid for all my games.

Oh and I really do not want people with their "Try this, try that, it worked for me", because I have more than likely already tried it.

This problem is odd, it makes no sense, one day Steam is available, the next, boom, gone.

Valve does not work in tandem with MS to push out updates. The Steam update on the 20th has nothing to do with the random non-security update for Win 11 that was pushed out also on the 20th.

You cant get help with statement like this,
"Oh and I really do not want people with their "Try this, try that, it worked for me", because I have more than likely already tried it."

you are on your own.

Revert back to 23H3. 24H2 is a windows insider preview update filled with bugs that prevents steam from launching (webhelper stops working)

Thanks, I shall give it a try, but perhaps if they just made machines and software updates efficient in the first place, then it would not aggravate people to be down the line.

If the UK did not censor and suppress outspoken people like myself, I would have tore Steam and the snowflakes here that leave unhelpful comments a new arse hole.

Thank you for your help, will try what you advise.

I have the EXACT issue this week. Any luck? I'm looking around to see how I can reinstall the previous version of Steam so I can get back to my gaming, hopefully.
Just installed Wind.23H2 package for Windows 11 Professional that now forces me to have this lousy copilot feature enabled 6 gb of content downloaded. And yet Steam client is running without trouble.

So I don't think Microsoft would ever harm Valve. There are rumors of users spreading the word they might buy the rights of services and such. Still the OP's issue is certainly a particular problem at his end and not a common thing otherwise I would admitted having issues as well.

P.S. I don't have my account prompted to log in by automatic or have saved at the welcome log client. I usually insert them manually and proceed. Is your Steam have diferent forms of entrance? If you are then maybe that is getting in conflict. Try a diferent approach and then report to Steam support page.

There are several threads about this already, with no evidence that it's limited to Windows 11. I'm affected, and am on Windows 10. Even some Linux users have reported the issue. The prevailing theory is that the Steam client update is the problem.

One user has claimed that 23H2 fixes the issue on Win11, but it's not clear whether they used Go back or a System Restore point, the latter of which would also revert the Steam client. If you've tried this, please reply with your experience.

Sorry mate but I didn't say that I reverted anything. I have paused updates for 3 months since April and then continued last night. Downloaded Windows 11 23H2, 2024-05 .NET Framework 3.5 4.8.1 for Windows 11, version 22H2 x64 (KB5037591).

The OP may not told is that how he log in onto Steam client. Because I've been opting the old way. There is no account saved on the welcome start or saved passes. I insert username and password manually.
If his problem is being caused to other log in entrance then I suggested to try the old way.

I know there was a windows update as extra you need to install , or steam login will not work, but i think it was before 3 month ago, but again why should we as user here keep track of when that was , so avoid update might cause you more harm,

This is well know with IT ppl, if you dont update you get issue , if do update you could get other issue. problem is we dont say it laud,

Feel free to go safe boot mode and read steam interference help sections , is long and dark and might give you a clue with what.

also raise the issue with right game build pc again so ppl can reset OS and patch up and retest things, even that old ways seem forgotten here, sense most OS has been stabile for years.

but this issue seem to have effect a few steam users,
keep in mind steam has 1 nillion account and 250 to 350 millions steam active every day and 46% to 48% is win11 user , and there is under 100 steam user here with current issue. ( did not count why should i )

steam dont start, thats way under 1% steam will see its as glitch but with what. and who said its a steam issue as you also point out.

gl with it.

test with other pc even , if you get busted here, then you know what i mean.

Hi and nope.

One person has given a quite complicated response to what I think the problem is. It means going in deep into MS by the looks of it, to remove a security update, which is preventing Steam from opening, because nothing is compatible with anything in this world. So it is complicated, no reason for this, random, so MS and so Steam.

The solution may be regarding this security update, but other than that, no Steam no longer opens on this machine, you also have the same issue.

The client does not even open up to allow me to put my log in details. So the problem is before the client is even opened.

All of what you are saying. I will try a system restore point, but you know the MS update will still end up being forced on it, and in some cases MS updates can never be removed, I have tried. It is part of their control mechanism they have.

I will try the system restore, I know that may solve the problem temporarily, but once that MS update is forced back onto the computer a few days later, then I bet that problem comes back again.

Thanks, will give it a try.

The system restore point does not take it back to when the problem started around 2 weeks ago.

MS is an abomination, lets be honest.

This has been happening to a lot of people, it appears to be a much wider problem. Of course, no one at Valve is giving any information, they must know there is a major issue. So what is the bet our data has been stolen in a hack?.

If we are never to be able to play the games we paid for again, when will we be refunded for all of them too.
