Steam receipt not showing what game I purchased?
So I purchased the Batman collection and everything went fine, but when I checked my email the receipt just said thank you for the purchase the following itemes have been added to your library etc. but it did not say what exactly did I purchase like in the past. I checked in the client and all other purchases have also removed the name of the game bought on the receipt itself. Have enyone alse noticed this? Is this a EU privacy thing or just a Valve error?

I just checked my Steam store purchases for this year, and it seems the receipt system is indeed broken:

  • One purchase has a receipt attached to it, which -- as you said -- only says "the following items have been added", without actually listing the announced items
  • The other purchase doesn't even have a receipt

And no, this is not a privacy thing. Even in 2024, you're still allowed to know what you've bought :-)

Also, the way the receipt still says "the following items..." suggests that they wanted to list the items, and someone at Steam just broke the code that does it. It also sheds some light on how the QA at Steam works... or rather, doesn't work.

still works for me.

It might be a database issue if it isn't listed. Those fix itself over time because Steam uses sharded clusters of multiple database servers.

Yes, but that's not what the threadstarter was talking about.

If you go on a purchase, there SHOULD be an option to view the receipt. That's what this is about.

Actually, you are right. If you click on the transaction and want to view the receipt, the name(s) of the product(s) purchased are indeed missing. It's likely an issue in generating the frontend data for the receipt as that issue also occurs retroactively.

Same issue here… it’s a bit annoying as I sometime use my emails to know the purchase date of some games. At list they are listed in the steam purchase history, but it’s less convenient 😢

Steam has been using this little trick on me for months to deny that I own games that I have previously purchased through thieving steam. When I complained they said you need to show the serial number of the missing games and your bank records showing the purchases. Some of these go back more than 6 years! DO KEEP ALL OF YOUR EMAILS AND BANK RECORDS EVEN IF STEAM DOESN'T WANT YOU TO KNOW WHAT YOU PURCHASED! Be aware if you uninstall a game then try to reinstall, or upgrade it, steam will say you don't own the game! My only advice I can give is keep backing up your hard drives. In my case even with an off line clone device it is a real pain!

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
