Update failure

My copy of Disco Elysium is stuck in an endless loop of updating. It says it's validating, then updating, then back to validating.

In my library I checked it's properties and did a validation check, it says it has 8 files that won't verify and need to be re acquired ... how do I do that? I thought that the files would be downloaded when they update? It's in my download queue, but maybe that's just the update files?

Game should automatically start downloading these files. So go to your download queue and manually start downloading them.

If it won't help - reinstall game.

It's in my download queue and is been downloading them for days. Not because it takes that long, but because it stops and re validates them and then starts to download and then stops to validate again.

So I'm not sure how to download them. Not sure which files they are exactly, or how to manually do that. Should I cancel the download that's going on? (since it's obviously never going to finish, or perhaps even start)

As for reinstall, I don't particularly want to lose my files. Would using the backup game function save that?

Backup your save games and reinstall game.

Had that happen on my HDD. Worked after I transferred it to the SSD.

Another time, I simply uninstalled the game and re-download it with no issue.
