I Got Scammed For 500$

I just started trading recently, which is stupid because of how much money I invested into skins. I just wanted to help out a "victim" of a scam that wasn't really a victim. He told me of a guy that supposedly scammed him. He asked if I could trade with him and get his item back. I went on csgo inventory helper and checked the price which said 500$ or so. So I offered the guy a trade. Without checking the item on the market, the item is Corrupted Divinations of the Nothl Haze Bracers. I don't even know if the item is real or not and how it went to the steam inventory helper that the item was worth 500$. Is there anything I could do, I am in devistation right now and If anyone could help, I would very likely cry until I have no fluids to fuel the tears. Is there anything that I could do?

You cannot get your stuff back. Report ALL accounts involved - the person you were talking to, the accounts that they led you to, everyone. EVERYONE was the scammer.

Nothing else can be done. It's a damn expensive lesson. NEVER use off-steam trade sites EVER. E.V.E.R.

Try posting in the Steam discussions next time, there is no suggestion I can see for Steam.

Sounds like you were trick from the Steam market price manipulation scam, nothing more you can do than report all the users involved, learn from what you did and move on.

Doesn't really much matter. Trade only for things YOU want, from people's inventories that you can prove are actually what you're looking for. Sorry, man.

No you were scammed because you were greedy

Steam tried to protect you from your own greed

Never rely on this. Ever!
It tells you absolutely nothing if people can just make separate accounts or ask their criminals in arms to commend their profiles with "reputation" and assurance that should mean nothing to you. Names and comments are so manipulatable that they lose all credibility.

Comments and previous aliases do not reassure you that they are reputable to trade with, or listen to. If you had to ask yourself that question in the first place then that's already a hint that you should abort all communication with them. You only trade with people that you know.

As far as these forums are concerned, if you need a baseline to trust any of the credible people above me and what they have written then just look at their post histories. Some of them have been helping users with scams for a very long time.

I don't know how it happened (or about dota2 skins) exactly but when trading on steam, you can approve it or not, and see what you are trading, if you accept a stupid trade (ie, giving an item for free/for nothing, its unfortunately deemed by Steam as your fault). Or did you trade for an item you thought was worth something but actually wasn't? perhaps do more research first.. Never trust random people, never give them things expecting something in return no matter what they say. Don't login to dodgy websites you aren't sure of

I do not give two bitcoin whether it is faked or not, would like to see a screenshot else it did not happen. There is no bar for fake stories or not if people cannot even be arsed to upload a screenshot to support their story. I mean who has never photocopied a doctors note to get out of PE class? I want to see the photocopy, if not, it never happened, fake or no.

READ WHAT I WROTE.

I clearly stating Screenshots can be faked and so they are worthless. Yet your still asking for them otherwise it didn't happen. If they photoshop a screenshot and provide it as proof it still doesn't mean it happened and if you still can't grasp so called proof can be faked continue as you are. Willfully ignorant to facts.
