Black unresponsive windows aftering unlocking Windows 11 PC
It's the same problem this person on Reddit has

https://www.reddit.com/r/Steam/comments/1b5ohud/anyone_ever_have_issues_with_multiple/

The windows aren't TOTALLY unresponsive. I can find the windows with the Library or File menu and use those to start games or exit steam. But I can't exit steam by using it's icon in the notification area or by right-clicking it on the taskbar.

I tried to search 'blank windows' 'black windows' and I'm not seeing any results here.

I just posted a thread topic on this same issue. It is very annoying. It has to do with having a multiple monitor setup, and allowing the PC to go to sleep and turn off the display. The quickest fix I learned is to drag the Steam application to your other monitor and back again. The menus get refreshed.

It does seem to be a multiple monitor issue, everyone who has the issue has at least 2 monitors. My PC is setup to never go to sleep, although my monitors are setup to turn off after 15 minutes.

Sounds very similar to the issues I got when I bought my laptop and went onto Windows 10 some years ago.

Windows 10 and 11 do behave a little weirdly with their settings (control panel). In that it will often choose odd settings that don't make a lot of sense or reset after updates or whatever.

I run my laptop by the side of my bed, with my TV as the primary monitor. I also have a few audio devices too. I tend to have the TV as the primary audio device, but also the defualt Realtek one, as well as an audio mixer and any synth I might have plugged in.

Sometimes running a game will stupidly have Windows choose something unusual as the audio device.

So the first thing I would do is make sure under Windows settings you either have the displays configured so you don't get this issue (either by changing priority or mirror them). And if you also get issues with audio drivers too, as these tend to go hand in hand, before you run any game that gives you grief, go to settings and disable all audio devices except the main one you want to use.
