Buy the digital versions on Battle.net or get a CD/DVD drive.

:winterbunny2023:
USB CD/DVD drives are like 20 bucks on amazon.

Could also try adding the keys to a Battlenet account. If memory serves Diablo 2 works, but I have no idea whether Diablo 1 would.

Cheapest route?

Go to Amazon and buy a USB DVD drive. Last one I bought was an Asus branded drive for less than £20.

Works perfectly.

Might have to go with a Portable CD Drive, I have Assassins Creed on CD, Prototype on CD, Far Cry 3, although could probably get that from Uplay as I think its there

Blizzard brought D1 and W1+2 to Battle.net a while ago.

I remember the disturbing moment, when I first saw a PC without a disk drive; I think that must have been in 05. The industry is leaving elements behind, that used to be essential.
Tools like adapters and the mentioned external devices should be able to carry you a few steps further, until their foundations are removed as well eventually. Who knows, when USB ports get put on the chopping block.

As a long term solution, I recommend to keep an old machine as a fallback option for everything, that won't work anymore. I got a Win XP PC stored in the cellar, and I already got a bunch of games, that I need it for, because all attempts at backwards compatibility fail for them.

I keep all my old PCs I never get rid of them. I have an old PC from 2011, it may be old but it still works and has a CD ROM Drive with games, and my old one from 2017 has CD Drive but is slowly falling apart, it keeps getting blue screen of death and I already took all my data off it once and reformatted it and put my data back on and it seemed fine until few months ago when all of sudden it blue screened and blue screened 2 days ago

The thing to remember is that nobody truly gets left behind, as there's a cardinal rule here - if you want to do something, then I guarantee someone else also does and has solved the issue on the internet already.

When I first got on the internet one of the first things that I found out about was how easy it was to find out that old arcade games could be played through emulation and so on. Never thought that'd be a thing. But because I wanted to know about this, it showed that someone else had had the same thought and done something about it.

Nowadays, I repair and buy a lot of old tech, consoles, games, and so on. When I got hold of a load of old 8 track cartirdges, I got a player to test them out and ended up liking it.

As a result I picked up more cartridges and ended up wanting to know how to fix the cartridges as they're notoriously awful, And again, a quick google gave me all the tips I needed as someone had been there before me.

So as sson as DVD drives were removed from PCs I knew instantly there'd be USB drives for sale that did the job.

People dont realise these days there are some users who still use CD ROMs so Technology gets left behind and removed
