Returning gifted game
A friend of mine has gifted me a game. I can't play it anymore for personal reasons . Is it possible to return that game to him somehow?
Thank You for your responses.

Thank You for your responses.

If you have more then two hours of game time or it has been more then two weeks since you accepted it, then no, you can not return/refund it.

If the answer to both is no, then I think either of you can start the refund and the other gets asked if they accept it. As you own the game, you have to give permission for the refund to take place.

Can I refund my gift?

A refund may be issued for any gift that was purchased within fourteen days and has been played less than two hours by the gift recipient.

If the gift recipient has already redeemed the gift, you'll see the following message when you try to refund the gift: This product was gifted to user (Account name). They'll have to use the Support site to request a refund for this product first.
The gift recipient should follow these steps to approve the gift refund and removal:

  1. Navigate to the Support Site and log in to Steam.
  2. Click Games, Software, etc.
  3. Find the gifted game in the list and click on it.
  4. Select the problem that best represents the reason why you're not keeping the gift.
  5. Click I'd like to request a refund.
  6. Finish the request by selecting the box for Allow the original purchases of this gift to request a refund.

You can proceed with the refund request once the recipient has initiated the refund and approved the removal of the gift from their account.
