I thought I mentioned that I DID try adding funds to make up the $5, but even that didn't work and I was shown the same error, no explanation given and simply told to try again later. Apparently, I can't make purchases on Steam and I can't even fill in credit in my Steam Wallet.
There's nothing wrong with my MasterCard, if you're wondering. The card is heavily used to pay for my subscriptions each month.
Clickiing on that link just takes me to self solving, which doesn't help my problem, since I can't self-solve it, seeing that my purchases are not going through!
Yes, that's what I figured as well! But yet, I can't make the purchase! That's why I'm looking for a way to get to Steam's Help and ask THEM what's the damn problem with my payment!
Could also be something with your card. I noticed that credit card companies are getting very security stuff on weird purchases. You might want to speak to them also. It is probably what steam support will probably request you do.. Try cutting out the middle man first and call your credit card company first and ask them.
You could also try one of those credit or debit cards you fill money up with, like a gift credit card and see if that works. They sell them everywhere, so you can find one easily.
Yes, that's what I'm afraid of. I did call my credit card company, though, because I was curious about it. What they said is that a purchase had to be made, then declined, for them to understand what the problem was. But here, the purchase itself wasn't happening (read, Steam wasn't accepting my purchase), so they said to check with Steam.
Which I can't do, because apparently, there isn't any easy way to reach out to Steam for this. Agh!!
I would not do a refund right after buying a game. That is called a chargeback. Some bad people do that to try to get money from steam, but steam tends to ban the account that people do that on. So i would not do that. I suggest doing what BottleCap said and request a new card.
I would be asking for a refund, in a purchase had gone through. But in this case, no purchase went through at all. I don't think that is the issue.
Neither do I think it's the issue with the Bank. I'm beginning to realize something that the issue could be my country of residence.
I live in Bangladesh, a country that has yet to make much progress in terms of online transactions using international credit cards, unlike our neighboring countries that are online transation behemoths. I have an international credit card issued to me by a Bank in the United States. Typically, this card is good for any and all purchases online; I've been using it to pay my Netflix and Amazon Prime subscriptions each month for the past 2 years now. Also been using it to make Google Play Store purchases, among others, such as online gift shops in the United Arab Emirates, to pay for gifts I send to family living there.
However, some stores (and I'm guessing Steam is one of them) will not process payments that have two differring locations for card issuer as well as account holder. In this case, account holder lives in Bangladesh, but card issues originates in United States. I don't know why this is true, but apparently, this just might be the very reason why my purchases on Steam are getting denied.
I just was able to send a support ticket to Steam, to fix my Steam Store country of preference to United States, highlighting my issue. I hope they respond favorably.
Try to be patient with their support and respect them. It may take some time. Hopefully they can resolve your issue. They always helped me in the past when i had issues. I wish you good luck in fixing your issue. Sorry you had to deal with stuff like this.
"Select the most relevant option on the page and the Help site will guide you to self-solve the issue or send a help request to the Steam Support team."
Support > Purchases > I can not complete my purchase on the Steam store > Steam Wallet funds
It gives you a place to open a support ticket. Describe your problem in detail.
Edit: I just noticed you already sent a ticket.
