Is there any dongle out there like Steam Link?
Is it worth it dumping 100 euros into an old Steam link on ebay? Can it cast all new games?

Any chance steam can make more modern versions of this super useful piece of hardware?

You can use a Raspberry Pi or some Android TV box with the Link app. That said, it can stream all games. Streaming isn't specific to any game.

And the newer Rasbpi or Android TV boxes will be more powerful than the rather old outdated SteamLink dongle.
Meaning better image quality and resolution options being available.

True but this is a 2016 hardware and steam say they don't support or sell it anymore.

Shouldn't an nvidia shield pro which costs 200 euros be able to do everything the steam link can do?

Hardware-wise, sure. You still need software support. Check whether the Shield got a Steam Link app first. If no, check for third-party streaming servers the Shield can connect to.

My Samsung TV has the Steam Link app in it. If you are using a smart TV, then you may want to see if you have access to the app as well and save some money.

There is also a Steam Link app for iOS and Android devices.

Surprised that app still exists on yours. It disappeared from our older Samsung set not long ago. The newer one doesn't have it at all.
