Do you have a authenticator on? If so check your phone or email

Make sure on the phone steam app you enter the code at the right time. In the email you can just use the code you get

i have done that but still no dice. i think i just got activation codes. how might i go about getting an autherazation code?

When you try to log in on your account on a new computer, you should be getting a Steam Guard email giving you a code that Steam will request during that new log in on that new computer. You should be able to just enter that code that is in that email and then your account becomes accessable on that new computer.

Can you please describe if you have that email and if you got that code in that email and if you have entered, what is happening next ?

i get the code. Steam asks for it. i type it in and click next. it proces it then rejects the code.

Thanks for the description of what is going on. So forgive me for asking, but are you sure you are typing it in correctly ? I "think" all the characters are case-sensetive, unless my memory is failing me here.

The code is 5 characters long, right ? Or is it 7 characters ?

Thanks. But are you totally sure you are entering the code exactly as it appears ? I always copy and paste it directly from the email and I have never had a problem when logging in on a new computer.

If you are sure you are entering it exactly, what exactly does the message say that you get, not allowing you to log in ?

we tried to copy and past it to but it just says 'sorry, thats not exactly right.'

I am really sorry that you have this issue and here comes the next perhaps silly question of mine so please bare with me....

Are you sure that you are not entering a code from an older Steam email from authorizing a device before this instance ?

I assume that you have totally exited out of that launch of the "new device" window and stopped the service altogether and then tried to launch Steam again and log in again, using that same code ?

Just restart your computer as long as you don't have the Steam client set to run on boot and see if you can attempt to enter the code again. I am thinking you have already done this by now but just asking in case, you see.
