Steam game audio issues

Today I launched Dishonored only to find that the audio had not been working. The problem is that none of the sounds will play at all. I tested it out on Undertale and Tomb Raider and found that while Undertale ran fine, Tomb Raider had not. Then, I checked my games that weren't on Steam and found that the audio played perfectly fine.

I looked up online for solutions but the only thing I found was to run the game as administrator. For Tomb Raider the trick worked once but it's back to being silent and for Dishonored, not only did it not work, but it crashed the game.

It is worth mention that I have had issues with audio devices in the past such as the speakers still playing audio when I had my headphones on. At one point, I took off my headphones when playing Minecraft only to find that the audio stopped working until I relaunched the game. However, these were isolated incidents and have not repeatedly happened so I'm not sure how much that would factor in.

As I stated before, I have searched online for help but to no avail. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Please check this list for any software that you may have that can conflict with Steam. Check for software that you have that may be similar also, if not specifically listed...

Make sure your OS and all audio drivers are fully up to date. Do you have on board audio or a sound card ?

I tried both solutions but neither has worked.

I don't see how you even looked at that linked list, as you have several programs from it and you said "neither has worked" so what have you done so far ?

I see several issues here. You have Killer Network Manager for one and you have Skype.

The Killer Network Manager is garbage when it comes to Steam. Most suggest to fully uninstall the manager and only install the driver, and you can do that from the "driver only" link on that website.

Skype is on the list of software that I have linked to you.

You have Windows 10. Did you upgrade to that OS or did it come already installed on your computer ? If you upgraded, where did you download the drivers (specifically the audio) for that computer that are supported for W10 ?

What is this....."ProductDaemonSetup" ? Does that have anything to do with Daemon Tools ? That is known also to be a problem, according to the list, if it is.

You have Norton. Norton is horrible and is definitely a problem...also on the list I have linked to you.

I can strongly suggest that you disable all background applications EXCEPT for audio only related processes (not third party ones), and test this again....

The problem is that the issue isn't a performance one, it's an audio issue. In the past month that I've had this laptop none of these programs have ever given me problems except for today. The Laptop came with Windows 10 although recently it updated which messed up my computer audio for a little while by making everything echo.

If you keep bumping this, as that is against forum rules, then you may get into trouble here so please stop doing that.

I don't see where you addressed anything I suggested above. I have shown you a list of programs that have issues with Steam and you have some of those programs, Norton being the worst one.

AND I have shown you proof of Norton here being the problem for so many before you.

Just because you never had a problem before, that means nothing. Don't assume what is or is not the problem and troubleshoot that problem properly, please.

Just because Windows did an update, that could just mean that something that never has an issue with Steam before now does. Not really sure how to help you here anymore if you don't seem to want to follow the suggestions given.
