Not moderators, but I'm sure administrators can.

Why are you concerned about your IP?
noki Feb 16, 2016 @ 2:36pm
yes

No, game developers/moderators cannot see your IP on Steam Community discussions.

They will see your profile just like any normal user would.

Nope, can't see the IP.

We see what everyone else see on profiles so if it's private we only see your avatar. If it's open we see what the rest see.

But there is also this that no Global Moderator spends their time tracking people down. We actually have a life to take care of and don't care at all about some random users, no matter how many times we've banned them.

Your IP is anything but private. You send it all the time. Every time you click a link in a browser you broadcast it multiple times.

Many websites and games log your IP Address. Normally it's restricted to admin view and only of concern if abusing the system.

Internet Protocol addresses are public. If they weren't they would not be called addresses.

For one concerned about 'privacy'

http://steamcommunity.com/app/389430/discussions/0/412446292775039216/

Maybe one thing to think abou tis NOT advertising your handle everywhere

http://steamcommunity.com/app/389430/discussions/3/412447331647636321/

Or asking people to contact you OVER SKYPE

You seem to be confused what 'privacy' means

hello

Posting your skype name is bad enough - from that I can get your IP Address, then your Home Location, etc... Skype security sucks, has been for years, they are just starting to patch it up (pointing out the exploit to them 2-3 years ago).

If you are wondering if you are being DOXed (personal details leaked by a hacker) or DDOSed (internet connection overflooded by rubbish requests), then it's most likely from your skype.

As for Steam Forums, yes the admin at least will have IP address details, but must less likely to be abusing them, etc.
