When did you buy the DLC? How much have you played the game after buying it?

Anyhow, here's the guide on it,

If you want to look into the issue itself, here's more on Disk Read Error,

i have tried the second guide already, with the checking and it for some reason it did not find anything. i am currently reinstalling the game in hopes of that working. i have not played the dlc at all yet, because it couldnt update.

Try this perhaps...

Fully exit Steam and make sure it stops completely.

Go to your common folder inside your steamapps folder. Look for a tiny strange file that has the same name or similar name as Borderlands 2. If you see it, then manually delete it. NOT the game folder but the tiny strange file.

Restart Steam with your DLC selected in your properties from your Steam library and see if it downloads/updates the game then.

This may well, only work for what i was doing, but there might also be something similar for Borderlands 2 or other games - i found that a HardwareReporter.exe , for what i was trying to update , needed to be used automatically , by the install process , at the end of the download , and that i'd forgotten i'd added security limitations on which users / programs could run it - a security thing ... similarly , there might be something you or a parent has done , to a individual exe or program , somewhere in the installation files , that NORAMLLY isn't needed during normal running of the program , but is , when an update happens.

for me it was nitty gritty on the security tab , but it could be a firewall , a malware-prevention program , etc etc

just turning off your firewall temporarily might not be enough though ... dont assume other programs , like a malware-blocker , will also be turned off , if all u turn off is a firewall - the problem with this and similar , is it means checking multiple programs settings , and you might not know how to - ask whoever manages the computer youre using ... when the game was installed , they may well've just gone through it and gone , 'doesnt need this' 'doesnt need that' ... etc , and not realized.

if they only need to allow something TEMPORARILY , they probably won't mind , but dont forget to say , "temporarily" , or they may well think you mean permanently / indefinately.
