Reset Achievements
Hello. I read somewhere that you can go into the local files on your pc and by deleting the file associated with achievements they'll be reset. I wanted to reset The Binding of Isaac Rebirth but I'm not seeing such a file in the local data. Is this possible without using an external program and risk getting banned? It's certainly not worth that.

That's because Steam achievements are stored by Steam, not on your local box at all. That's why other people can see your Steam achievements.

Some games have their own achievements as well (oftentimes, some of them are also linked to a Steam achievement). Those are likely stored in the savefile.

You can also create a new account and use Family Share to play the game and unlock all achievements again.

Please note that not all games support Family Share.

Binding of Isaac is one of the weird ones. I doubt you can effectively reset these so I wouldn't try.

On the face of it, many achievement you can freely reset using SAM. But you run the risk of wrecking things in future as resetting the achievements DOES NOT always reset other variables.

Say, for example, you have an achievement that is "kill 100 enemies" and you have others that go up the scale too like "kill 1000 enemies". If you reset them, it miight not reset the variable behind that that tallies how many you've killed which means you'll never unlock them again.

Some games are like that.

But from personal experience Binding of Isaac is even weirder as it tends to unlock achievements NEXT TIME you run the game. Or that's how I've had it. I don't know what's going on there but I would not mess with it.

That's not too uncommon. Some games will just update the achievements if they aren't properly unlocked.

People usually experience this when they load the save on an account that hasn't played the game before, and it gives them all the achievements that are in the save.

Also if you just want to do all the achievements again for fun, make another Steam account and Family Share the games to that new account from your main one.
The new account can redo all the achievements for all the games if you want.

Not just loading the save, sometimes just trying to play the game with a new save. I had that issue with Jedi: Fallen Order. I played on Epic and got 100%. When I tried to play a new game on Steam, it instantly unlocked all the achievements, even though I started a new game.

Just download Steam Achievement Manager

Inded, but Binding of Isaac does this weirdness nonetheless. It's a weird one.

That's likely because they shared the same variables somewhere.

Some games do weird stuff like that as all games are different.

It's one of the problems with multi platforms.
