Steam ignoring p*dophilia support request?

Make sure to take screenshots of all the conversations the person sent you, just in case they get wiped. Then contact your local police station and make a report for Cyber abuse/grooming/bullying.

That last step is important. You aren't entitled to watch the alleged offender get marched out into the square for a public execution. You have the power to cease any and all contact with this person. If they try and get around it by creating an alternate account, just repeat the steps (It's way faster and easier for you to click report, then block than it is for the person to build a whole new account.), and do this as often as needed until they get bored and go away. By engaging with this person, you are encouraging them. By reacting poorly to their actions, you are giving them exactly what they want.

Report, Block, Move on. Remember it. Love it. Live by it. Encourage your friends to do the same. Also be selective who you accept into your friends list, and don't put personally identifying information on to the Internet.

He should have to make a new account lol he deserves to lose everything. And yes I guess it is my fault but like I got scared and I didnt know what to do he kept asking me weird questions and then he sent me weird photos all in the span of 5 minutes and I freaked out :/ You cant really expect children to be the ones to stop pedophilia, pedophiles just need to stop being gross ykwim? But I did block him mostly what im frustrated about is all my comments being deleted on my own profile and steam punishing ME for speaking out bc thats wrong

If there are any illegal pictures it's illegal to take screenshots.

I don't think Valve cares much about these things, if you really want to report this situation you have to do it to the police who have access to IP and ISP, Valve could also risk to incur penal sanctions as has already happened, for not having taken actions.

That's the typical bot response. You want to contact your law enforcement. Also note your proile is against TOS by making public accusations.

They replied pretty in depth and also said they were closing my other request and jsut replying in that single requests which leads me to believe walter is in fact real and its not against tos anymore right? because i said the link wasnt related

You won't get in trouble if you report a suspected criminal in good faith. Are you by any chance under 18 and afraid your parents will ground you? If so just be discreet about reporting them.

You won't get in any legal trouble if you make a good faith report via Steam Support, though they will also recommend you contact law enforcement.

That said, NEVER screenshot any nudes, especially if you suspect they are underage. If Valve is complying with the law, they can trace them to the sender when law enforcement subpoenas them as long as you don't reproduce them. Block the user, report them both to Steam and the police, clear your client cache, and do not interact with that account in any way anymore.

The LGBTQ part is because there is a push by US politicians to brand such people as pedophiles without any evidence while ignoring actual crimes committed by their own kinds.

Also, how would you even know that Steam has taken action? They wont discuss what they do with you. At most that user would get a (rightful) permanent community ban but Steam does not permanently delete user accounts.
Also reporting by users who are not invovled is counter productive, only you as the victim should report that user, nobody else. That just waters down your accusation because those other users had no interaction with him.
And finally, stuff like this can take weeks till support will work on it and like already mentioned it would be much better to go to your local authorities who then can contact Steam for the needed data.

His profile would be private to friends if he had a community ban and thats what Im hoping for. its really scary that p*dos can just interact with any child and prey on them that they want, and I rlly rlly hope his account gets taken down. The dms are only held in steam servers for two weeks and they usually reply to my help requests within 7 hours (i did the math) and I think theyre just going to ignore it until the dms are gone because valve doesnt care. Its rlly scary.

This is not how you go about anything like this.

As others have said this is a PURELY USER forum. Only users are here generally. You may get the odd rare involvment from a member of staff but they do not answer posts.

So you're shouting into the void.

If you see ACTUAL things that are illegal (and be warned here - it needs to be ACTUAL not some weird over-zelaous puritanical thing about sex that we sometimes see on here where some people are overly off about sex), then you can freely report it to your local police station. most Police forces have cybercrimes units.

They will be best placed to work with companies like Valve to take it down, and if they are able to go after such people.
