Steam deleted automatically
So this happened already many times...since the start of decemder 2023 steam started to delete itself from my computer together with all the games I've downloaded from it. It happened the next day i started up my pc when I saw that it was gone or during playing red dead redemption 2...The shortcuts on my desktop didnt work anymore because it couldnt find the file location. I dont know what to do. I've reinstalled steam now several times and had to download all the games again just for it to delete itself again the next day.
If somebody has a similar problem I am open for help because i dont know what to do else...

This can be caused by a couple things. First, if the adminstrator has the pc on a freeze format, basically anything you install on it will get deleted. This usually is with pc's at college in the libraries or in school. The other thing is your pc is comprimised and someone is hijacking your pc and deleting it off.

i am more inclined to think it is the first issue though. Ask the adminstrator of the pc if they can allow you to install steam and the games you want, otherwise, steam, and anything else you install will auto get deleted everytime you start the pc.

The second issue is someone else might have access to your pc. Use the following method:

Hijacked, not hacked. You leaked your account credentials somehow.

Do not trade until your account is secured.

Take the following steps to secure your account:

1. Scan for malware. https://www.malwarebytes.com/
2. Check that the email and phone number on the Steam account are still yours.
3. Deauthorize all other devices. https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
4. Change passwords from a clean computer.
5. Generate new backup codes for your Mobile App. https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
6. Revoke the API key (there should be no key). https://steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey

Steam does not return inventory items or wallet funds: https://help.steampowered.com/faqs/view/3B6E-B322-2400-8D24

There is one more issue i can think of. If your hard drive or SSD is going bad. You would have to replace or get it repaired professionally or buy a replacement hard drive or SSD and install it. Make sure to eliminate the other two reasons first as this would be the most costly to do.

Check your antivirus. ESET (for example) has the option to "quarantine" files or programs that may be dangerous. Put Steam on the safe list and that's all

Yea. I forgot that can happen too. Rarely does though, unless your virus scanner is too picky about certain files. Also allow steam thru your firewall settings since some games require it to be online.
