Elden Ring

Guys I need you all to recommend a good controller for me to play Elden Ring since I don't own a controller.

My Xbox 360 controller has served me well for many, many years for many games, including Elden Ring, and before that Dark Souls.

I never owned an Xbox in my life, but their controllers are great.

Don't get a 360 one, get a least a XBox One gamepad or equivalent. The DPad on the 360 gamepad is simply atrocious.

I can agree with Unn4m3d 100%. Unfortunately, my 360 controller broke a while ago and I had to switch to a newer version of Xbox controller because the original 360 controllers were no longer available, but the new ones are also great, of course also for Eldenring (tested myself).

While I cant agree with those two due to my personal experience, if multiple people had issues with it I might just have been lucky I suppose.

There are newer models of Xbox controllers, so you might as well look into them.

Whichever version you end up going with, I do recommend at least going with an xbox controller if you can afford it. It's the most compatible controller on PC. Nowadays I think more games/ports are supporting a PlayStation controller out of the box, but in most cases in my experience an Xbox controller always is. I use an xbox one controller and have no issues with it.

And even when a game does support a PlayStation controller, it doesn't always have button icons on PC (annoyingly, even if the game is on PlayStation as well).

I only switched to a newer version of the Xbox controller because, as I said, my old 360 controller unfortunately broke (after a long time).

I use a Dual Shock 5 (PS5) controller. You can use a standard Bluetooth connection for it or use a USB cable.

A Logitech F310 is another controller I have used. It is wired and uses a USB slot on the computer. The F710 seems like a good wireless controller.

Personally, I can't stand how the X-box controller feels in my hand and by far prefer the PS one.

Disabling the controller through Steam tends to fix that and/or using the controller wired.

Steam translates controllers to X-input, so the games think you are using an X-box controller.
