Can I use a 2.6 GHz game on my 2.3 GHz laptop?
I have recently been refunded for 'Bus Simulator 16' because it required 3.3 GHz but my laptop only has 2.3 GHz so the application would always stop working. I want to buy 'OMSI 2: Steam Edition', but it requires 2.6GHz and I want to make sure it can run on a 2.3 GHz computer before I buy it and possibly waste another $35.00 on a non-compatible game. Can somebody please help me?

I have no idea what a CPU model is

Oh does CPU mean computer because if it does then it is a Dell laptop that I got in December 2013

Looks like you are correct here...

These are the system minimum requirements for that software, according to the store page...

System Requirements
MINIMUM:
OS: Windows XP/Vista/7/8
Processor: 2.6 GHz
Memory: 2 GB RAM
Graphics: GeForce or comparable AMD with minimum 512 MB
DirectX: Version 9.0c

http://store.steampowered.com/app/252530/

So if you indeed only have 2.3 Ghz, I would say you cannot use that software on that computer.

Posting the exact CPU may be best to give a more definite answer here, though.

I am not sure if this is the CPU (I have no idea what a CPU is) but this might help: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4200U CPU @ 1.60GHz 2.30GHz
The Giving One Mar 27, 2016 @ 10:08pm
Well, that is a CPU, yes, but according to Intel, that CPU will run at max frequency of 2.6 Ghz...

http://ark.intel.com/products/75459/Intel-Core-i5-4200U-Processor-3M-Cache-up-to-2_60-GHz

And in that case, you may fit the requirements of the game, as long as you meet the rest of the requirements of course.

So where are you getting the information that the max frequency is in fact 2.3 and not 2.6 ?

I found it in the system section in control panel

By the way in the system requirements where it says Windows XP/Vista/7/8 is that the minimum or the required OS?

Just to clarify here, what is your operating system on that computer ?

Windows 10 64 bit

This may be a bit off topic here but it is actually related to your issue, I would think..

Did you upgrade to Windows 10 on that computer ?

It seems to be maybe a bit of an older computer so that is why I am asking. That may be related to how Windows is reporting your CPU speed in control panel->system. as in the BIOS possible issue of changing to a different OS than what you had previously.

Build 10586.164
The Giving One Mar 27, 2016 @ 10:26pm
What I am asking is did you change to Windows 10 from a previous operating system on that computer ?
ping793 Mar 27, 2016 @ 10:27pm
Yes I degraded from windows 8 to windows 7 (I don't know why I did that) I then upgraded to windows 8 and then updated to windows 10. (by the way 'Build 10586.164 was just me trying to be extra specific with the current OS, I started typing it before you replied)

Oh my...you have done all that and had no driver conflicts ? You cannot just run any OS on just any computer, as you need supported drivers frist, and sometimes, a BIOS update as well if one even exists for a computer made in 2013 for Windows 10.

Post the exact model of that Dell computer, including the model number EXACTLY, please.
