Question: If a server for a game gets hacked, is it possible to them to hack your game from it or steam account?
Just found out something alarming on a game i am playing. I will write the review in a bit, but apparently the game i am playing had their servers hacked. Now since basically the online part of the game is unavailable, i am now worried if they can hack me thru the game and steal my steam account. Would it be possible? Because of this i stopped playing the game for now, and will delete off my pc. I also will change my steam password just to be safe. I also am currently running malwarebytes atm on my pc. So my question is can they get my info from playing a game if some hackers hacked the game servers?

The information about the hack can be found on this post under the game:

That seem to have happened 1 year ago.
You could ask what that means "domain was hacked".

Hard to tell. If the game did not get updates and still connects to "that domain" could be problematic.
But again, without getting the info what they meant, it could mean anything.
What's said here is correct, while it's unlikely just connecting to "a hacked game server" can prove a risk to your steam credentials.

It also depends all on what exactly was hacked, for example there was a bit of a hack for older CoD games that allowed people to inject code into someone else's copy of the game through the server, giving them backdoor access via Remote-Access Tools (RATs) to the infected user's PCs

Just connecting to a compromised server won't risk your account, but if the server's used to distribute malware, then that's a whole other kettle of fish.

However given the hack was a year ago, it's unlikely to present a current threat. However, if you feel safer taking those precautions, go for it.

Any time you feel you've come into contact with a malicious server, or program, always run an up to date scan with a program like MalwareBytes as well.

Anything is possible, how plausible something may be is debatable. If it's a real concern you'll have to weigh each game and server you connect to individually. After all if someone says no, how do you know if they're right? And if someone says yes, how far do you need to go to protect yourself? No more multiplayer games ever? Or just keep track of known threats? The latter can be a lot of work, are you really willing to do that work?

Thanks all for the information. I always feel that precautions in this day and age should be taken to secure things like my steam account, so yea, i do take precautions. Hopefully the password changes i made to steam and some other things i did is enough. Thank you all for your answers.

Also, i have malwarebytes on my pc at all times. It is the first thing i installed on this new pc.
