What is steamwebhelper.exe32?
I just happened to see it hanging around the task manager everytime I open up Steam?
What is it? I can't find any information on it on the internet. Is it becaue of the last update?

Sounds like malware, or a web hijacker. I would advise to run your AV or get malwarebytes free version.

EDIT: nevermind, the guys below know better :D

It's a new process related to Steam from the recent update. It's safe you have nothing to worry about. As for what it actually does, I can't be sure on everything but it adds some chromium components to the Steam browser, should mean some faster and better browsing.

It's not a virus or malware, it's something new in the Steam Client's beta version for the browser.

And... OMG that list of fixes.

Library

Games can now be assigned to more than one category at a time
In desktop library details, list, and small views, games can be multiply selected using shift-click and control-click and certain operations can be performed on the group

About damn time. If only it were drag and drop as well.

Oh, okay.
Phew! Thanks guys!

@postewar: nobody forces you to use/buy games on steam. There are plenty of places for DRM-free games.

On a more serious note: lately, every time I send a trade offer, my steamwebhelper.exe crashes.

Why do people voluntarily accept participated in the beta, do not write bug reports in the hub Beta test, but instead complain to the general forum?

I can't find the beta/bug report hub.

I have 24 of those running right now, so.. using about 275mb of RAM together.

think about it, would this little process even be needed if games were DRM free? Nope.

The process list has nothing to do with DRM

Any more than claiming how Chrome/Opera/IE do the same thing is DRM

Maybe you should reinstall, or repair Steam I only have 2 running with 75mb of ram being used.

Fortunately for you there's a few games left on Steam that can be started without having any DRM active at the same time :)

Where are you getting advertisements?
TirithRR Jul 26, 2014 @ 9:10pm
It's nothing to do with Advertising. It's part of the browser of the new client.

Steam still only shows a single ad pop up on Start Up and when you close a game, an ad for the Steam Store, and both of those can be turned off in the settings if I remember right. No outside ads on the Steam Client or webpage.
