How to remove achievement spam from account?
I got a trivia vault game on sale p much on a whim, and didn't realize its nature before I opened it.

Now I have 5000 more achievements than I've actually earned listed on my profile, which is pretty upsetting to me bc reasons.

The only fixes I found were reset_all_stats, which locked the achievements but didn't remove them from my account stats, and achievement_clear, which effects one individual achievement each time it's used. out of 5000.

Does anyone have any advice on next possible steps?

Are there next possible steps?
Is this just my life now?

I really hope not.

dont think you can remove achievements sadly

press windows key + r
paste in the following
steam://open/console

your steam window will open a console
paste in the following
reset_all_stats <APPID>

you need to replace the <APPID> with the game id
for example 730 is csgo

exit steam to make the console section disappear

you can search for app ids on https://steamdb.info/

Steam Achievement Manager could potentially help with the issue you face. It uses the Steam API commands similar to the console. You could look into it.

Unfortunately Achievements are a bothersome nuisance developers implement for one reason to lore players to a specific platform offering the game;
as Steam Partner's guide on DRM puts it, it makes it more attractive for players to obtain the game legitly, basically.

It has to do with american culture and psychology, I think. Basically it is a means of showing self-worth to others, and, it could be viewed as a reason to receive compliments, but it doesn't in fact solve loneliness and self worth issues.
So it in essence becomes like a drug, which I think is wrong.
It's also a system that creates a public status for you, and so, if social points are important to you (likely due to loneliness) also becomes a drive to obtain them.

The point being, it has to do with advertisement and customer manipulation, so I don't think developers will get rid of them and so... I don't think you can 'remove' them.

Meh--

If this worked, could you tell us? I'd be interested to know.

this does work, i reset my csgo stats when i posted

you can also use:
https://github.com/gibbed/SteamAchievementManager

but i prefer using steam console itself rather than 3rd party hence why i recommended what i did

Well... yeah. "Number of games where a user have earned at least one achievement" won't go down even if you remove them all one by one with "achievement_clear" command. And this "game" will be bogging down your "average completion rate" even with 0 achievements in it. I think it's better to not touch it until introduction of proper "removal" feature in Steam.
If needed, use these console commands for deleting and re-earning achievements with ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up timestamps or for replaying games completely (i.e. including Steam features) anew. That's it.
People are wacky about achievements these days 🙃

I appreciate it, but this is something I've already done.

Y'know, I looked at the SAM, saw it hadn't been updated for four years, and decided not to try it. But it works for you? If so I might see if it does for me. Thank you.

Well ♥♥♥♥. That's really aggravating and disappointing. ♥♥♥♥ me I guess.
Thank you though.
Oh ♥♥♥♥ guess what everyone! I requested a refund (they offered one whole dollar), and detailed my reasons in the request. It just went through and BOOM! No more extraneous achievements. My skin is flourishing, my crops are clear, it's a glorious day.

What exactly did you say to them for them to remove the achievements? I opened this game similarly to you, immediately requested to return the game (to my friend who sent it as a joke), and believe have previously contacted support. This was all about four years ago. I've been on and off searching for a way to remove them since and it bothers me so much that I could not.
