Steam Games AUDIO got Reversed, wrong position LEFT n RIGHT

recently i just realise and found that Steam Games Audio got reversed.
i play CSGO compe as usual with my friend...
but there is time, when i hear enemeis foot steps, comin from right side , suddenly enemies appear from left....
seems the audio got reversed. also i keep hearing wrong , shots sound source position.


i check my headphone position , L for left ear, R for right ear, im in correct position. but in game still reversed.

after that i test other game, Warframe
it also got reversed.
i hear wrong the Left n Right.

so i go to windows Sound, to test
check Left N Right, and the result = its normal
i test SoundTest LEFT AND RIGHT online, its also result normal.

so conclusion, i think theres something wrong with Steam
maybe bug or something
it make the game sound got REVERSED... INVERTED
i keep hear wrong for LEFT n RIGHT

wonder if theres a fix
i need help

im also been testing on Youtube , music n video player
all run normal
Left and Right sound , is in correct position.

im getting this problem, only when playing Steam Games.

Fairly sure Steam doesn't do anything with game audio, the game uses DirectX API or whatever other 3rd party audio API.

Likely the issue is with the driver, might be trying to do some sort of virtual surround, spacial audio DTS or Atmos positional upscaling nonsense.

If your headset or onboard audio driver came with its own control panel, look for settings like that and turn them off. In the Windows sound settings, disable enhancements and make sure format ISN'T set to something like DTSX, Windows Sonic or Atmos for Headphones.

that enhancements, i didnt touch anything...
all already disable before

i heard the foot step sound, and shots all getting reversed Left Right not in correct position.
but this reverse/invert audio problem L R only happen when im playing steam games. csgo and warframe i use to test > all reversed

i havent try other games from epicgames, etc.


ive been playing compe CSGO together with my steam friend, and its normal before.
suddenly steam audio got reversed/inverted.
idk what makes this audio reverse/invert

browser audio = L R normal
youtube = L R normal
soundtest windows = L R normal

Steam games :
-CSGO = L R not normal > reversed
-warframe = L R not normal > reversed
it means , the problem only on steam games.

i did check my headphone btw L for LEFT ear, R for Right

Have you tried to reinstall sound drivers yet?

And also try disabling audio devices you don't use, like HDMI, TOSLINK, Stereomix etc.
As already stated, the Steam client does not do anything with game audio. Note the total absence of any audio-related options in the client settings. It is definitely a driver/software issue.

Also, audio control panels sometimes install themselves along with the driver, which Windows Update automatically installs, so just because you don't remember installing one, doesn't mean it's not there.

First thing is obviously reinstalling or completely removing and then replacing your audio drivers.

Also make sure there's NOTHING else as far as audio programs or other audio devices interfering.

I do audio engineering and Windows 10 and 11 can be bloody silly at how it messes up and confuses audio devices. So when something like this happens, I always go to Windows settings and make sure ONLY the audio device I want to use is enabled. Disable everything else.

There can also be programs like EAX (in older games) and audio enhancements in game that wreck things and confuse channels. So try to dig in to find if there's any in game settings or enhancements that could cause this.

im still using win 10 btw.
i havent tried reinstall sound/audio driver.

yes, i ive tried disable like audio from hdmi etc, only using High Definition Audio Devices, from device manager.
i try launch>play csgo and the audio still inverted/reversed

i dont remember what app or etc that makes this steam audio inverted.

If all working in the system then its that game only problem, because then all other game from other devs should be effect and thats not the case, they all user system settings today, you need old games with own sound driver and setup, and they dont do that anymore then system provide it.

codec and mods is the only things left with why things can get flipped around. then system dont have the issue or game itself just like CF already point out.

but when im launch CSGO or warframe(i havent test other)
L R got inverted/reversed
something make the audio got reversed when im play Steam Games :v

You need to know we have battle with sounds over 40 years some of us old gamers, i had even better sounds back then others, but it dont matter here and now , just like CF point out its odd system work and not game itself, and only you know if system made a sound driver update its driver things dont change by itself something cause this.

Then thte thing to try and work out is what changed between now and then? Typically what other software did you add or update since then?

It might be good for you to go back to basics, and unistall everything sound reated and enable one by one until you find the culprit.
