unfortunately there sits a design flaw within the index and the index is also one of the earliest VR headsets.
I assume that at some point they will release a revision, version 2 or some upgraded variant.
Dont buy the things off aliexpress or ebay … or where ever you are buying them from. Finger prints on a new device…..
I have 2 of them and they work perfectly. I had the HTC vive but it had some issues. One of the controllers on the index stopped connecting but that was because may son smashed it against a wall multiple times at speed.
There is quite a bit of troubleshooting you can do but it doesnt sound like you have the skillset to do it.
What OS are you running? How many USB devices do you have plugged in to your usb ports. How many monitors are you running. What video card do you have? Turn off power saving on your USB ports, unplug everything else in your usb ports. Are you using HDMI or display port? Go into power profile and set it for max performance. When you pull the power on the headset make sure that steam VR is not running by going into task manager and kiling it. Reconnect the power and wait 3 min or so before starting up steam VR. It sounds like you have a cable or video card issue. Or you can get on ebay and get the HP headset omnicept edition. You can get that for around 400 bux and its the same thing without the light houses. The controllers arent as good. The index has the best ones .. but you can get dongles and use them with the HP headset. It has foviated rendering/eye tracking and has a module that tracks your facial expressions too. If might take you a while to find it at that price but just set up an alert for it. Good luck.
