Steam not detecting Epic Games Game as being played

I added Sonic Mania as a non-steam game to my library, so I would be able to use it on a good launcher that actually has controller support, but for some reason, as soon as I open it through Steam, Steam stops counting the game as "running", and because of that I can't my gamepad configuration for the game.
Basically, even though I opened Sonic Mania through Steam, it doesn't know that the game is being run on my computer.

That's generally how it goes.

When you add a non steam game all you really get is the Steam overlay.

I don't think you understand. I don't even get the Steam overlay because Steam does not know that the game is open, even though I opened it through Steam.

Hi!

Steam don't interact in any way with a non-Steam game. It's just a shortcut you add to Steam for your convenience... (Maybe i'm wrong, but that's my understanding of it).

That is not how it works.

or could go for GlosSI, its more setup but results in a smoother experience (doesn't matter if EGS is already running, on game quit Steam wont show it as running)
