Slow Downloads?
Hi all, I have a samsung 970 plus ssd, and overall a pretty good rig + ethernet (google says my download speed is 61 mpbs and 3.74mbps upload). Only thing is, I don't know why my steam downloads are so slow. I tested a library PC on wifi compared to my PC, and it downloaded at 50 mbps, while my pc on ethernet with a high end ssd downloaded at 3 mb per second. What is going on, and what can I do to fix this?

When you say High End, I assume you have an NVMe connected SSD?

Can you test if downloading is speed up when you disable Disk Write Caching on the device?

You likely have to disable NetworkThrottlingIndex to achieve the full 61mb/s
(you can use tcp optimizer to do this and perform other network tweaks)

I assume you didn't set a download speed limit in the Steam Client?

Edit: (misread a bit)
Do you know what Ethernet driver you are using? Maybe it comes with software that throttles Steam.

Edit 2: In case you want to try manually editting the Registry to disable NetworkThrottlingIndex, go to this location in regedit and edit the key shown in this same image:

Edit 3: The ethernet cable could be bad. I'm not too sure.
Normally Ethernet is faster than wi-fi. xD
You could try another port on your router I guess.
update drivers and the router firmware, check the settings on your pc.
no clue.

To follow up on my last edit:

A couple of CMD commands that could maybe fix issues.
netsh winsock reset netsh ip reset ipconfig /release ipconfug /flushdns ipconfig /renew ipconfig /registerdns

You could also try network troubleshooter.

Having a slower ethernet connection is really odd at least.
