To elaborate on this point a little bit more. There is no "item value cap" on trading items. If your goal is to sell a $5000 for money, consider looking for people in the trading forums who want to trade you items of lesser value for it. You could trade that $5000 item for ten $500 items and then sell the $500 items. Trade directly with them in one single trade. Assume anyone asking you to trade for "Credit" where they will pinky swear they will totally trade you more things later is trying to scam you.
Short version: The community does realize the problem and is speaking up. And OP hates that because the problem is OP's refusal to take personal responsibility for their own actions.
