PING - Router or Provider problem?
Recently I've been having internet problems. When playing online I constantly get 300 - 500 ms and often it spikes to 2k. It's a miracle if it stays below a 100 but that would only last a minute or two.

Restarting the router won't help. For a while after it boots up the connection would be fine, however the problem appears again.

I live in the Philippines and we are stuck with the worst internet provider ever, PLDT. Our family uses a PLDT Home DSL router or whatever.

Every (approx.) 2 minutes my Steam client loses connection to the servers and it stays like that for approx. 3 more minutes. Then it connects again. It's annoying.

I opened up the command prompt and typed in 'tracert www.google.com'

1 3 ms 3 ms 3 ms 192.168.1.1
2 381 ms 333 ms 329 ms 112.211.32.1.pldt.net [112.211.32.1]
3 321 ms 331 ms 331 ms 122.2.175.186.static.pldt.net [122.2.175.186]
4 339 ms 324 ms 334 ms 210.213.130.186.static.pldt.net [210.213.130.186]
5 324 ms 331 ms 331 ms 210.213.130.117.static.pldt.net [210.213.130.117]
6 351 ms 331 ms 329 ms 103.233.37.217

So apparently I don't have a complete idea about what's going on here, but all I do know is that the connection between my laptop and the router is fine and that between the ISP and the router the connection apparently sucks. (correct me if I'm wrong)

Then I try 'ping www.google.com -t', and after a short while I do 'ctrl+c'.

Pinging www.google.com [103.233.37.217] with 32 bytes of data:

"Maybe it's where the router is placed?"
We recently moved it near the middle of the house and that's when the terrible ping started happening. However, we only started experiencing the problem a day after we moved it.

"It's probably because other people are using the internet."
I tested the problem when no one around is using. Still the same.

I need to be sure if the problem is where the router is placed or whether it is the internet provider. All I need is for someone to tell me what the problem is because I have no idea how to fix this.
My knowledge on this is limited as you can see.

UPDATE:
The hotel internet is fine. Tested with this laptop and my brother's, internet had no problem, therefore hardware is not the problem. We are contacting our ISP.

Also, if my laptop can't support Windows 10, my laptop WOULD NOT run Windows 10. Just because the official Acer website says my model is not supported doesn't officially say "your hardware CANNOT run on Windows 10". Why would they force Windows 10 on all Windows platforms if not all brands can't run it? The upgrade appeared as a notification, so I took it.

ALSO, when I purchased this laptop, it was ORIGINALLY 64-bit, therefore my processor CAN RUN 64-bit.

First step to troubleshoot issues with connectivity is to bypass the router and use ethernet only. Some routers have issues with Steam sometimes and then some are just cheap anyway.

I connected my laptop directly to the router. Problem persists, my steam client still gets disconnected every 2 minutes.

Check that again, please, as we need to confirm proper communication here. Didn't you mean that you connected it directly to the MODEM ?
Modem, router.. sorry I get confused with the two. I have two internet devices, the PLDT Home DSL modem, and an ethernet switch. I connected my laptop directly to the modem with a blue cable that is supposed to be connected to the ethernet. In my laptop instead of it showing a wireless connection icon in my taskbar it shows an icon of a monitor with a plug attached.
If you are indeed connected to the modem only, and not even jumping through the router, then see if you notice improvement. Stay connected to the modem to further troubleshoot the issue.

Now, post some system information. What is your operating system ? Have you changed operating systems there recently ?

Have you checked for device driver updates, in this specific case, you need to check for the NIC (LAN) device driver updates but all system driver updates are important.

Post the exact model and manufacture of the computer, including exact model number if you can.
Ok, apparently there has been some improvement but it happens again. This was my cmd minutes ago:

There has been a change recently, I reformatted the system from 32-bit to 64-bit.

I do not quite know how to that.

So it is great that you are posting all that info here, but it is a bit premature really. You admit to changing to 64 bit, but can your PC actually RUN a 64 bit OS and a W10 OS, in fact ?

Like so many before you, it appears that you have changed to an OS without checking for drivers first. I don't even see W10 in the drop list here, if I have your info correct that is...

http://www.acer.com/ac/en/ID/content/drivers/4278;-;Aspire%20V5-431

EDIT...You have to actually add the "P" in the search box. This site will not refresh the link the same as others.

Don't see it here either...

"Acer will provide driver support for the following products that qualify for the Windows upgrade:"

Actually, the reason I changed the OS to 64-bit was because a year ago, this laptop broke. Before that happened, the laptop was originally a x64. After we had it repaired, I noticed that it was changed into 32-bit. I didn't quite bother, but after a while I realized some of the games I had required a 64-bit system. So, I changed it back into 64-bit. The OS change happened way back in 2015, and I did a clean system install and all that. I do think that it is unrelated as the internet problem started happening just a few days ago, after our router was moved. (stated in original post)
I upgraded to Windows 10 after the repair and before I changed the OS also.
My laptop is not the only device experiencing the problem. I tested for connection problems in my mom's laptop and it exists there too.

But the point is, I don't see your computer as supported to run Windows 10 at all ? Not sure you understand, but in the drop menu on the Acer site, all that is listed on that computer is Windows 8 64 bit and Windows 8.1 64 bit.

So it appears there are no drivers available for your system to run Windows 10. Search for yourself if you wish, to be sure I am not wrong, but you cannot just run any OS on just any computer.

You need the drivers for all your hardware to function, and that inclueds the NIC (LAN) or wireless device that you are having the "ping" issue with, it seems.

Your other posts ninja'd mine here. Probably going to have the same issue with that other computer then, as no drivers can be problematic in many ways.

Ok, maybe I'll just tell my dad to move the modem back to its original position. Hopefully it will be fixed.
Are you just ignoring what I am posting here ? If you cannot run W10 on that computer, then the modem will not make any difference.

This.

If your computer is not able to run Windows 10, it won't run it. No way to hack around it as for it's an OS.
