Ok, good luck with that. The hardware and OS forum is still recommended.
Mom's -- Acer Aspire V5-122P, 64-bit, Windows 10
Brother's -- Lenovo G40, 64-bit, Windows 8.1
Do you see that computer in this list anywhere ? And this does not even get into the BIOS possible issue that you are simply ignoring here so far.
"Your system may require additional software, firmware, and/or a BIOS update to install and run Windows 10. Please note not all Windows 10 features may be available on all Windows 8.1 PCs. See the following qualifying Acer models. Systems not specified won’t be supported for an upgrade to Windows 10 in line with Microsoft’s regulations."

Driver updates for the G40, although there appear to be other versions of the G40 that you did not specify so not sure.

Select Windows 8.1 64 bit from the drop menu and you can see the driver updates for Wireless and ethernet there in the list.
How about my brother's Lenovo?
I found this:
http://support.lenovo.com/ph/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/lenovo-g-series-laptops/g40-70-notebook-lenovo?c=1&beta=false
As I said, all his drivers are updated. Not sure when it was but surely it was last month.
I will be going to a hotel this afternoon, and I'll see if the problem still exists with their internet. If it is, then you are right: it IS my hardware. If it is not, then that means our home modem is the problem.
I edited my post above that you just quoted. I suggest that you see that edit there, please. You may have other issues there that are related to connectivity, but how can we know until your OS on ANY computer is fully up to date and that includes drivers. There can be two things going on here, but not with YOUR computer, as it is not supported to run Windows 10 as I see it.
If you post in the hardware and OS forum, PLEASE pick one computer to ask for help on at a time. That will lessen the confusion, hopefully. Just because it "may work" in the hotel, that does not make the computer magically appear in the list above, does it ?
EDIT..Again, totally ignoring the possible BIOS issue, along with the computer not being listed in the first place.
Amazing.....
The hotel internet is fine. Tested with this laptop and my brother's, internet had no problem, therefore hardware is not the problem. We are contacting our ISP.
Also, if my laptop can't support Windows 10, my laptop WOULD NOT run Windows 10. Just because the official Acer website says my model is not supported doesn't officially say "your hardware CANNOT run on Windows 10". Why would they force Windows 10 on all Windows platforms if not all brands can't run it? The upgrade appeared as a notification, so I took it.
ALSO, when I purchased this laptop, it was ORIGINALLY 64-bit, therefore my processor CAN RUN 64-bit.
As I already said, you can install the OS on a computer , but that does not mean that the OS is actually supported to run on that computer. You must have the drivers and sometimes, the BIOS update...
And as I already said, some drivers will "work" for the hardware even if not specifically developed for that hardware, but that does not mean that you will not have issues later, such as BSOD or faulty functionality of said hardware. For example, Windows will attempt to install a generic driver on boot if available, and then you should always update those drivers to the official ones from the manufacturer.
Still waiting on that link from you....the one where you can download Windows 10 64 bit drivers for that computer...
Acer Aspire V5-431P
from the official Acer website. Post it here anytime. Thanks.
Sigh.
I can say the same about you.
When solving a problem, you don't just stick with one possibility. You are sticking with your argument that I mistakenly installed an OS that the official manufacturer doesn't support anymore. You are trying to prove that you are "right".
Use logic. You have to find the real problem first before taking action, as it can waste resources and in my case, my files. I have to roll back and reformat my OS so that I can get the internet working? That's a lot of time wasted on my part, as I have to reinstall my programs and get a backup hard drive for my other files. It would be very disappointing to find out that the actual problem was not in my computer itself but the modem.
I am really frustrated because you read NONE of the info I gave you in order for you to properly help me. I know more than you apparently because you are not discussing about all the details that I am giving, but only the details that you believe will help you in helping me.
So, what supports your statement? The acer website doesn't have support for the drivers on my laptop. Therefore outdated drivers are causing my wi-fi problem and will soon cause faulty functionality.
But what disproves your statement? I stated that the same problem happens with two other devices.. one is another Acer and the other is a Lenovo. The Lenovo has all drivers updated. You even found the official website to download its drivers.. yet it still has the same ping problem. That obviously says that hardware is not the problem here.
LOOK. The internet problem is fixed now. We contacted our ISP and they said they are on it. Meanwhile my laptop is doing fine with the hotel internet. Playing online is alright and I can get my godlike killstreaks on TF2 now.
Thank you for your effort, but please minimize your arrogance.
