THIS...why make things difficult ? Just uninstall Steam after logging out and you are done.

But if you insist, read this...but note that in this section mentioned below, the word "delete" is not used. "Cease use of", "terminate access to", "cancel"...those are used but "delete" is not.

I prefer my account intact in case my account is compromised.

Valve will not delete your Steam account. They just won't.

Because they know that at some point the person who did it will regret the choice or it's a hijacker who have done it.

I have not heard a single user being able to do this yet.

I have seen one user that is/was pretty well-known in the forums here (no names by me here, of course) claim very sternly that they have had accounts deleted. I of course have no proof that they were in fact being deleted but just what that user said.

And I am not sure how you could prove it anyway, without sharing the account details such as login info, which is a violation of the SSA anyway. The fact that you cannot log into an account/could not log into an account does not/would not prove it has been deleted anyway.

In the end, I have to say the SSA is the law of the land here. So, accounts are not deleted as far as that goes.

EDIT..Sorry to doublepost here ( I have now compiled it with my previous reply as this edit) but I somehow found that post and thread I was mentioning above. It is pubic on these forums, so linking it here should be just fine.

Hi! Steam support replied my ticket with title terminate my steam account.It seems

Steam account can be terminated. And thanks for your replies.

Below is the main part of the reply from steam support.

We will be happy to assist you with this request. First we need to disclose some important
information and verify proof of account ownership.

Terminating your account will not result in a refund, as explained in the Steam Subscriber
Agreement.

The games in your account will not be accessible for future use. Once we have permanently terminated the account, we will not be able to reactivate the account upon a future request.

We must also verify your ownership of the software and associated Steam Account(s).

After verifying your proof of ownership we will assist you with this issue.

You better be sure you want to do this. Because as they said, there is no going back and there will be no refunds, as covered in the SSA.

Proof of ownership of the account, as they are asking for it seems, can be given by following the suggestions here...
