STEAM NOT DOWNLOADING GAMES
I HAVE MANY GAMES I NEED TO UPDATE but tthe one is the top always says starting and stays like that
nothing wil update
tried disabling firewall
antvirus
everything
i changed location
help me

try deleting steam folder under %appdata%
path: C:\Users\yourUser\AppData\Local\Steam

Then it may actually be helpful to other users in the community for you to edit the title post and inclued "SOLVED" or similar, including what you actually did and steps you took to correct the problem, so others can see what you did to fix it and may get help, too.
exit steam and run as admin worked for me
I have a similar problem with my Steam. On the Steam app while clicking on my own profile it says it's private for myself and I cannot download updates or download new games. Anyone has a solution for this problem?
Try this:
Change the location in downloads. I'm in Australia/NSW, but when currently nothing happens if that's my selected region; downloads are "preparing" only. Change it to anything else - eg Canada - and voila, downloads are working again.

I reckon there are some local issues occasionally.

(Normally the Aus/nsw works perfectly well)

Change Download Region

The Steam content system is divided into geographical regions. The Steam client automatically detects its current region and uses content servers located in that region for best performance. Sometimes, servers in a specific region may be slow, overloaded or have a hardware failure causing download issues. It is advisable to temporarily switch to a different download region to use another set of content servers.

Steam -> Settings -> Downloads -> Download Region. You may need to test several regions other than your own.

Changing regions does help quite often, thanks.

Not true, i have 150mb internet, my speedtest gets 180mb/s sometimes, generally sits at 140.
My DL speed on steam, 500kb-2 mb. Region change did nothing, restrting internet helped for 1 min then it just slows way down.

It seems like it is just today and some other odd days the speeds drop a lot. last week i was getting 15mb/s in steam

You said "region change" as in singular.

I have seen cases where all of them need to be tried to get the game data and fully download. Sure, after exhausting that possibility, other things can be looked at, but changing regions helps very often here in this forum.

Feel free to use the forum search for "change download regions" or similar search terms and see for yourself. That's why it's on a support page, after all.

EDIT...Ah..how conveinent, as here is one right now, with the user inquiring about that very possibility here....

I disabled every single windows firewall and network protecter and it fixed it all up
I was just having the same problem but the comment saying the firewall and anti virus was the problem was right. I just had to disable everything from norton anti virus to get it to work. This is a stupid problem and I hope they fix it.
do Ctrl+R on windows then type Steam://flushconfig
I just had troubles downloading anything (updates, games, etc) so i went to steam website and without uninstalling reinstalled the game platform from the website and not only did it work fixing the download issue but also the community and store on steam was loading as well.
