I cannot get my Lenovo Y510p to use my NVIDIA GT 750M
My laptop only uses the Intel Integrated Graphics. I have tried almost everything to get it to work. I reinstalled all the drivers, tried old drivers, upadated from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10, uninstalled intel and NVIDIA graphics drivers and reinstalled, etc.

I also cannot access the NVIDIA Control Pannel. I dont see it when I right click on my desktop but I do see it in control panel, it just wont open. I also see the graphics card in device manager but no matter what I do it wont be put into use.

Please help,
Thanks.

Try disbling your intel card in the bios settings

Also do a 'clean' install of your drivers
The Giving One 2016 年 5 月 26 日 下午 8:04
Where did you download the drivers from...Lenovo ?

Changing an OS on a compuer can possibly mean having to update the BIOS if the OS is in fact supported on the computer, because Windows 10 will not run on every computer.

Check your BIOS settings, maybe.

EDIT..sorry, ninja'd by the good Satoru

Not talking about GPU drivers...I was talking about system drivers. GPU drivers are not the only drivers needed for an OS to function on a computer.

Check Lenovo for a .pdf manual of you computer or if you have the manual, see how to change the setting for the GPU in the BIOS.

There is a better forum for this, actually. The hardware and OS forum.

Is this the computer ?

I don't see Windows 10 system drivers in the drop. The list stops as Windows 8.1

What kind of GPU drivers are needed?

Again, I was not talking about GPU drivers. System drivers...chipset, audio, LAN, wireless, SATA, etc...those are system and hardware drivers.

And again, I don't see Windows 10 drivers on that Lenovo website. If I have the correct computer there in my link above, the list in the drop menu stops at Windows 8.1, your previous OS.

Where did you get the system drivers from...Windows update only ?

Yes from windows updates

I never let Windows update my drivers and I never suggest to anyone else to let it either, unless there is no other choice.

I am sorry, but I don't know how else to help you. This really should have been posted in the Hardware and OS forum that I linked above, and if Lenovo does not have the drivers, then I can only suggest you search each manufacturer's website for all the hardware in the computer (chipset, LAN, audio, etc.) and manually download them and install them, if they even exist that support Windows 10 on that computer.

You cannot just install any OS on just any computer. The drivers must exist for all the hardware that support the computer. That is why I personally think this rediculous upgrade should inform the end user more as to what is involved, because many are making this mistake of "upgrading" where the OS is not supported on the computer.

If all else fails, roll back to Windows 8.1 and reformat and cleanly install Windows. Then get the drivers from Lenovo only, and not Windows update.

Thanks a lot you your help, how do i reert back to 8.1?

Feel free to search for the drivers before you give up if you wish but your Windows product key should still be good to change back to 8.1 if you do that. You reformat the hard drive during the clean installation of Windows 8.1 (a clean install is the only right way to properly install as OS on a computer), and then download and insall the drivers from Lenovo...the website linked above also.

THEN you get the GPU Drivers from Nvidia only. You download them and install them and not let Windows do it for you.

Post a thread in the Hardware and OS forum and seek help on that there if you need it, please. Thanks and good luck to you.
