Do not spend from Steam wallet at purchase
Hi!

Earlier I had the option to not spend from my Steam wallet when purchasing something but I cant find it now. I dont want to spend my wallet money. I want to pay the whole ammount with Paypal, like formerly. Not just the remainder and empty my wallet.

How?

When you check-out there is an option, which is very ominous, to use Pay-Pal or Debit.

Probably you dont understood the problem. I have some wallet money. Not enough for the purchase. I want to keep that little money there. I cant find any options to not spend that wallet money and pay the WHOLE price with Paypal etc.
Formerly there was an option for that, I did it a lot of times, and I still want it that way.

If you don't see the option, then are you sure you have enough in the wallet to cover all the amount ?

I can see you said you don't want to use your wallet funds so why do you think Steam is making you use the wallet ?

If it is not there, then you are not using it. You have to select to use the Wallet, not deselect it.

Please read my post again. Im sure I dont (!) have enough money on my wallet to cover my purchase. And I dont want to spend any money from my wallet. I dont want to use my wallet money and empty my wallet wiht a purchase. I want to pay the whole price with Paypal - like many times before - and leave my wallet untouched. I dont want to spend my wallet money and pay the remainder with Paypal. I want to pay the whole price with Paypal. I cant explain it more detailed.
"why do you think Steam is making you use the wallet ?" - Cuz thats written on the screen... And I cant find a way to remove it like before...
You have to select to use the Wallet, not deselect it. Not true. Steam now automatically adds my wallet money to the payment and let me only choose how to pay the remainder money.
And I find it very ungrateful.

Ok...Ok...sorry, OP. I totally understand your issue, but just wanted to clarify here. Thanks.

So is there any issue with your paypal account ? Any recent chargebacks or other things like that ?

Can you post a screenshot for us and cover your login name up ? Not that I don't believe you or anything like that, but just would like to see what that looks like on your checkout page.

As I remember formerly there was an option with checkbox for wallet too. I was able to uncheck it and after that I was able to pay the whole price with the selected method. Now Im only able to choose the payment method for the remainder.

Sy with a similar problem: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3149609#13

I tried to do what he did and step back after selecting Paypal but I get an error message now and cant pay at all anymore.

I have to leave now. I will check back a few hours later. Cu.

It could help if you post the words exactly from that error message, please. Also, from your screenshot, it looks like you don't have any Paypal account setup, as far as I can see because Steam is asking you to select a secondary one from the drop menu there.

Maybe you know this, but it is just an obversation.

I understand exactly what you said. When you proceed to check-out there is the option literally right in front of you. It does not use your wallet funds if you don't have enough.

Add to cart>Purchase for myself(or as gift)> Payment methods-Should be on the right-hand side of the page.

OP, see this post in this thread...

http://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/1/620712999968773141/#c620712999968959234

I did a search of the Help and Tips forum and you can try other search terms if you wish to see if you can find other suggestions. I used "cannot unselect wallet funds to pay" and this is the results...

http://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/search/?gidforum=882959061466924237&include_deleted=1&q=cannot+unselect+wallet+funds+to+pay

Sorry if that is not helpful. Other than using the search to maybe help, all I can personally suggest is for you to try to refresh your Steam files...

This is what you should see

http://i.epvpimg.com/BsJXf.jpg

The "Change" link lets you choose a new item, selecting the same Visa leaves you with the single item to purchase in full on the card.
FiX May 27, 2016 @ 1:36am
Thank you all for the help! I made a purchase a few minutes ago without the use of my wallet. Formerly I made purchases here with my credit card and I got that screen earlier what Karr linked. Now I was afraid if I login into Paypal and agree, my purchase will be done automatically after that.

Even I was able to pay as I wanted this is an extra stupid design. It suggests we have to spend our wallet and I had to login into Paypal two times within a minute. Second time after I changed the steam wallet to Paypal too.

It should let us choose the method first and begin the actual payment process only after that. :creepybug:
