Game saves are saved to the cloud.

You don't need to uninstall anything. Verify your game's cache and it'll restore the original files.

Most games that utilize local as opposed to cloud saving will be in your my documents folder so you don't have to wory about losing your progress if you uninstall the game.

What the good CharlestONE said above is correct. However, there may be some games that actually store the saved progress inside the games folder, and in that case, that would be removed if the game is also removed using the "delete local content" feature from your library.

I don't suppose you happen to know whether Victoria 2 or Paradox games in general do this?

I am not sure it is limited to a developer or not. I always manually search for each game save folder for each game I want to make a save backup of. Sometimes they are in the game's own folder inside the common folder, and sometimes they are in the "documents" folder.

Some are in the "my games" folder and then inside another subfolder there.

Some games store saves is strange places, and you just have to look for them before uninstalling the game to be sure, that is if you want to make a manual backup of the save(s).

So, like, if I delete Shadow of Mordor but then re-download it, Story Mode will still be complete, I'll still have all the same runes, etc.?

You would have to look up where that game stores the save files. If they are stored in the game's folder, and you uninstall (not "delete") that game from your computer, then the saves will be lost. If they are stored outside the game folder, then you should not lose them if you uninstall that game.

Also, some games can use the Steam cloud, but personally, I prefer manually backing up the saves myself.

There is also a nifty program called GameSave Manager that many suggest.

http://www.gamesave-manager.com/
I'll show you below all locations that have saved game information.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata
C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME HERE\Documents
C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME HERE\Documents\My Games
C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME HERE\Saved Games
C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME HERE\AppData\Local
C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME HERE\AppData\Roaming

Every location i listed i have saved game files in. So maybe the games you have are saved in a different location then i listed. Also sometimes the folder is named by the app number in userdata and by the maker of the game in other locations. The folder won't always have the game name it will be the dev name or the publishers name as the folder name.

This site will show you where the save game data is located at just search for the game and it will tell you where the config file is and saved game files are at.

That depends on the game. Not all games work the same, concerning how they handle saves.

If for some reason you can't figure out how to do it from the game menu, you can navigate to the folder where that game saves progress, and manually delete them with the game not running, of course.

Searching the game forum for that game might help you figure that out, though.

Right click game>select properties>Local files tab> Verify integrity of cache.

Mine says game files, and not every game supports cloud saves on Steam

I generally use save game manager to backup save games as a precaution. Not all games support cloud saving and if something occurs to overwrite your cloud save you can save yourself some heartache by simply backing it up yourself. I archive all my save games weekly and dump them in dropbox.

How do you get rid of data of a game im trying to do this on dude simulator because i turned the resolution down because the game was choppy. This resulted in the screen being to small and not being able turn it back to the oringel resolution. I have looked up videos and none of them have helped me and i will go to the files to find the id and i can not find them even though i have the game installed. They talk about files i don't even have. Is it because im on a windows 7? Can somebody help please?
