PC freezes on multiplayer games

For a long while now my computer has had a habit of freezing on certain multiplayer games. Games include CSGO, CS:S and Overwatch (all of which aren't heavy games to run.) Sometimes after playing them for 1-2 hours, the computer will completely freeze. No sound, just frozen on the game.
I have tried monitoring the heat of my CPU and GPU to see if it is simply overheating but the CPU stays at around 30-40 C and the gpu stays between 60-70 C. It confuses me considering that I have ran games like Dark souls 3 and DOOM for hours on end without any issues. But when I try playing games like CSGO or Overwatch for extended periods of time it will freeze.
My cpu is an intel i5 - 6600K and my gpu is a gtx980ti.
Any solutions?

Are you connecting to the router through Wifi or cable?

Disable Windows Defender

It's caused me, my friends, my friend's friends a ton of grief in csgo / dota2

And by "freeze" you mean your sound loops / image freezes right?

Disable Windows Defender, and remember to REPLY and tell us if it's fixed or not.

Edit: also, you don't have an SSD but a HDD right?

Connecting through cable.
By freeze I mean the image freezes, keyboard lights freeze (they stay a solid color instead of moving like they are sent to) and sound goes out.
I have my games saved to my SSD. Is that bad? I picked an SSD because of the faster load times.
I'll try disabling windows defender and see if that works.
Will get back late, I'm trying a different strategy first to see if it'll work.

So it definitely isn't overheating since I placed a fan in front of it and it still froze after awhile. Felt the back and it was not hot at all. Image was frozen, sound cut out, keyboard lights frozen.
Going to try the windows defender thing, but Idk if it is safe to actually disable that.

I don't see your operating system posted anywhere, unless I missed it.

Also, post the model and model number of your computer. If it is custom built, then post the exact motherboard and revision number if that applies.

Also not going to attempt disabling windows defender, I don't see it working since I had it on on my old laptop that had ♥♥♥♥ specs but never had crashes on csgo

Please reply to all questions when you do reply, as best as you can of course. When posting like this for hlep, the OS is one of the most important pieces of information. I/we cannot search here for anything without knowing the OS.

I've done it for CSGO as well as validating files and whatnot. Same for CSS. No change

When was the last time you checked that site ONLY for driver updates as well as BIOS updates that may be critical, for the motherboard that is and not the GPU ?
