Steam stuck on an endless refreshing loop.
I've been having this insanely annoying issue with Steam for the last month, and have no idea where it came from or why it's happening, but god, I can't deal with it anymore.

So after the first hour I'd say of being on steam, it's fine. Pages work, everything loads, cool. But after that, any page I want to go on (other than my library) will not load. It's stuck on whatever last page it was on, and the refresh thing in the corner is endlessly looping.

The ONLY way to make it work again is to restart Steam itself, and again, it stops working very quickly.

I read online that Steam Beta caused this issue, so I turned it off. Nothing.

Then another that said to re-install Steam. Again, nothing.

I'm at a loss of what to do. I can't even check my messages anymore without going on the browser and HAVING to open Bluestacks (which takes 15 minutes to load) because I don't have a phone.

Another tidbit, I'm not sure if it's important, but every single time I open Steam it updates. Not sure if those two things go together or not.

Please, advice?

Did you just delete this and then repost it again ?

Do you have any programs from this list ?

It wasn't showing up on the forum list so I thought it was glitched, so I reposted. Plus no one was commenting.

However that list is making me realize that I had uninstalled AVG but now that I'm looking at my program list... it's back. I don't know how, but it's back.

I'll uninstall that and get back to you.

Okay, I'm having issues again so it wasn't AVG.

Out of the other programs, I have:

BitTorrent
Webroot
DaemonTools (rarely use it)
LogMeIn
Hamachi
Skype
It says something on there about NVIDIA, I have an NVIDIA graphics card but that's it.

So, now what?

You don't know that AVG was not some of the issue, and if you did not verify that your Steam files were not messed by by AVG, that can still be relevant here. DO NOT reinstall AVG just because you don't think it is the issue or part of it.

Yes, if you have that junk installed, which is all on the page of problematic software, then you need to fully uninstall all of that and reboot your computer.

Please don't reply with "it never caused any issues before now". I can tell you for sure AVG is a big deal, as it is in bold and with a green symbol, and only a couple weeks ago, the forum here was alive with new threads about AVG causing even more issues with Steam.

Don't take my word for it, use the forum search. Just type in "AVG" and see for yourself. You still need to uninstall all the rest of that listed software that you just posted. THEN restart your computer and we go from there.

Please do not "delete bump" this thread again, as now relevant and helpful info has been posted in it and that would be lost if you did that again.

No, I don't think you understand. I deleted AVG, not reinstalled it. It reinstalled by itself, not with my input. I only had it on my PC while I was waiting for my actual anti-virus to start working again (was having issues). It SHOULD be gone now, but that's what I thought before.

I can't exactly delete programs that I use on a daily basis. Is that really your only option?

Hamachi I suppose I could delete, but I actually need all those other programs.

I do understand. It was just that you said you did not think it was AVG. One "could" assume that one might reinstall it and I have seen people do that before, right in the middle of the thread.

And you don't "delete" programs from your computer. You UNINSTALL programs from your computer and then you reboot your computer and we continue.

Have you now uninstalled EVERY program that you listed above and rebooted your computer ?

You can "try" to keep the one you mentioned but you are not fully doing this correctly if you do. EACH program you listed is on the list. Why would you keep one and not get rid of them all in order to troubleshoot this ?

Programs can be reinstalled later you know, if we find they are not the actual cause.

Oh ok, I more thought you meant 'delete these programs so steam works'.

That makes more sense. I'll get back to you.

Alright, I'm 99% sure AVG was the cause of all of this. It reinstalled itself AGAIN somehow.

I followed a tutorial of how to completely wipe it from my computer, and I believe it's gone now.

If I have any more Steam issues, I'll report. But currently it's been working good for a solid 3 hours.

That is wonderful news. Sorry it took a bit more than expected but I am sure you understand about troubleshooting and removing programs from that list.

And from what you said, you can also surely see why AVG is in bold and with a green symbol there. It does not like Steam at all. Thanks again for reporting you seem to have fixed it, what you did that seems to have fixed it, and good luck to you.

Post back if you need more help, please.
