Badges give you XP, which can level you up. See this page to find out how much XP you need to level up: https://steamcommunity.com/id/Massi35/badges/

Note that every 10 levels, the amount of XP you need to reach the next level increases by another 100. So, by level 58 you need 600 XP to reach level 59.

I wanted to be a little more specific about it so they wouldn't think they gain +1 level for every 1000 points spent on the seasonal badge.

They will only gain 100XP per level in the badge. So, while 1 badge will give them the last XP they need for their next level, this will not always be the case.

I usually don't know what to do with all the Steam points, so i dump some of them into the seasonal badges.

upgrade your item showcase or any other profile feature , id rather spend few cents for 100 xp instead of 1000 sp which cost 10e
