.NET framework 4.6.2 will not install on windows 7 64 bit. says my operating system is not comlatible.

I have been trying to play space engineers but says .NET framework 4.6.2 is not installed so I try to install it and get told my operating system is not compatible. I am completely up to date got the windows 7 sp1 installed already still doesn't work.
