Will Samsung Gear VR work with steam?
Hi
I have a Samsung Galaxy s7 edge and i have seen that Samsung have developed a VR headset that uses the s7 as screen, and therefore is much cheaper than other VR headsets (wich is why i can only afford the Gear VRr) but i am unsure if it will work with steam, or even my ps4 at all.

Is there any way to "stream" steam games into my s7, so i can view it in VR format?
The game i am most intrested in using the Gear VR with btw is Subnautica, incase anyone wonders.

Very unlikely to ever happen, it's only designed for Android VR games/experiences running directly on the device. And to use it with a PC would be a lot of work.

Think of Gear VR as basically a posh Google Cardboard.

To use with Steam, (or any PC VR) games/experiences you'd need someone to create an Android app that could have the PC contents streamed to, and it would also need to capture the positional/tracking information on the Gear, and send that back to the PC.

Wifi would likely not be fast enough, so you'd probably need to use USB, and either way, would require someone to write custom drivers on the PC to basically emulated a Rift or a Vive (as that's all there is currently), or use the OpenVR to essentially create a new device type..

Even if you got all that to work, it would almost certainly be very very laggy, and uncomfortable to use for any length of time.

TLDR: If you want PC VR, get a Vive (or a Rift, but they're not room scale).

It would probably display the image on the screen, but it's not going to be usable as VR as the headset wouldn't be sending positional information BACK to the computer, so it would literally be a screen on your face.
