Obviously I do check the reviews or I would buy EVERY game on steam.
The reviews narrow it down to games I will enjoy but often there is a single design decision that completely ruins the game for me, while it may be ok for others.
eg. Lots of people seem to love MGSV but I found the menu control to be absurd (WASD and left click to confirm but the mouse cursor position is ignored), and when each scene loads it pans to the top left (another mouse-related control issue I presume). After these two problems I assumed that the rest of the game would be unplayable with mouse and keyboard so requested a refund. However, I saw none of these issues mentioned in the steam reviews.
Also, if I buy more games then it's likely I will have more refund requests than if I bought fewer games. It's up to the developers whether I refund or not. If I like a game enough to buy it (less that 1% of all games on the store), then it's up to the decisions of the developers as to whether I continue to play, or if they keep annoying me with broken or tedious content getting in the way of the game I want to enjoy then a refund will be likely.
It's not really my fault they decided to refund all the games as one package for each individual game that I requested a refund for, and that they continue to assess the refund of all the games after a decision has already been made to refund them.
However, despite these 3 emails stating that the refund of all games was approved, they are still appearing in my library..
I have uninstalled the ones that I don't want but not sure what to do about the unplayed ones that are still installed..
Can I play these now or do I have to wait??
Secondly: Assuming the controls wouldn't work based on the menu is borderline rediculous. The way you wrote that, you never even actually tried to play and just got out your jump to conclusions mat and took a leap.
If this is how you decide on what games to refund it's no wonder that you are getting a warning about too many refunds! The refund process is not meant to be used as a demo service and doing so constitutes abuse.
If you refunded to your Steam Wallet then you can refund individual games from a purchase, if you refund to your original payment method then you refund the whole package.
You'll note it was a combination of the menu controls and the problems with the camera.
I don't want to have to put up with these persistant issues for the rest of the game.
Also it was valve support that suggested I go by the steam reviews.
I think a combination of reviews, let's plays, recommendations from friends and actual playtime by myself is the best combination.
