Steam account - Query account by CD-key ??

What does this mean?

It sends an e-mail to the e-mail that is attatched to the account that the key was used on.

It is if you forgot you had used the key, so you can locate the account you used it on.

Only the e-mail is sent. No information is displayed.

I normaly search the forums for free keys and get some
Is any of my information given to the people that searched the key?

Nope. Like I said "Only the e-mail is sent. No information is displayed." so they don't see anything but "An e-mail has been sent to the account" and that is it.

No, it only sends the account name to the e-mail attached to the account. So you suddenly get an e-mail saying (paraphrased) "Hi, we see you're trying to recover the account with name "Namy mcNameface". Good luck with the recovery!" It doesn't hurt.
