Refunding DLC
I know you can but does the dlc have separate play time vs what you've played in the game?

To be more specific, for example say I've played 132 hours of payday but I just got the dlc, could I refund within two hours?

No, it goes by the playtime you have in the base game.

Refunds on Downloadable Content
(Steam store content usable within another game or software application, "DLC")

DLC purchased from the Steam store is refundable within fourteen days of purchase, and if the underlying title has been played for less than two hours since the DLC was purchased, so long as the DLC has not been consumed, modified or transferred. Please note that in some cases, Steam will be unable to give refunds for some third party DLC (for example, if the DLC irreversibly levels up a game character). These exceptions will be clearly marked as nonrefundable on the Store page prior to purchase.

Sk the base game hours but just not 2 more hours extra?
TombRaiser Jun 15, 2016 @ 8:19pm
The way it reads to me is you wouldn't be able to refund it based on how many hours you've already played in the base game. How would they know how many hours you've put into the DLC vs. the base game itself? They are not tracked separately.

that sounds like they dont count it seperatly, they just say if you add 2 more hours to the game you cant refund

When you buy a DLC and you want to refund it, you can't have played for more than 2 hours from the point you actually bought it. If you only played 20 minutes after you paid, you should be able to refund it.

yeah! see what i mean? i is smurt! (thx )
(Sorry to revive an old thread, but this seems to be the only thread around asking this question)

So I bought Mount and Blade: Napoleonic Wars about a week ago and requested a refund two days ago. I probably spent only about an hour in the DLC, only to find out that the player community was so small the game wasn't really all that much fun (it is a multiplayer-only DLC). I knew about the 2 hour refund rule, so I stopped playing the DLC, figured I would get a refund on it, and loaded MTB back up again WITHOUT the DLC (Native + my favorite mods). So I have probably spent more than 2 hours in the base game since I bought MTB: Napoleonic Wars, but not more than two hours in the DLC. Will I still get a refund?

Regarding that, I wouldn't hold my hopes up.

Good luck regardless.

They cannot tell if you are playing the underlying title or the actual DLC. The policy is clear on refunds for DLC. It is not "logic" but "policy".

I am also sorry to revive an old thread but this might help others:
I have Total War: Attila from the beginning, has something like 110 hours in it. Just bought a DLC for it but then after playing with it for an hour or so I realised there was a reason I stopped playing the base game as well, dlc didnt change it at all, so I asked for a refund for the dlc. It was just refunded an hour later.

"Since the DLC was purchased..."

So you simply qualified for the refund under the policy.
