Very long download time on new computer??
I'm new to owning a PC and I literally just got my first PC in the mail earlier today. I am trying to download H1Z1: King of the Kill and it looks like it might take a couple hours to install this game to my computer. Is this normal? I'm not sure how long games are SUPPOSED to take to download but for a brand new computer that I just paid 700$ for, it seems to me like this game should be downloading a bit faster??
Estimated time keeps fluctuating between 2 hours and over a day.

Try changing download region, if not then clear some programs in background if possible.

I literally have nothing but Steam and one internet browser open. This PC is 100% new and besides Chrome, Steam is the only other thing downloaded. This computer should be running fast as hell!
Well don't be overly-enthusiastic about a 700$ computer's speed. Mine is over 2k and steam downloads are crappy for me x) 4-mb/s. But new computers need to warm up really before being actually effective in speed so stop downloading for a day or three then try again.

Your computer does not determing your download speed, your internet connection (ISP and hardware included) does.

Check your speeds at:
http://www.speedtest.net/

And please post back with them.

Also, are you wired or wireless?

Oh wow. I wasn't aware it was like that. I was really looking forward to a fast computer that was worth the hard earned money haha As long as it's normal, though! I think I will contiue the download, I'm very excited to play. This was my "good job in school, enjoy your summer" reward. Then in a few days I will download Warframe and see if there is a difference in speed.
Would you be able to tell me what is normal? because I only have a couple weeks to bring it back, should there be a problem.
I don't know much about this computer in specific deatils but I do know it has a 6th gen intel core i5 processor in it

Keep in mind that wireless usualy reduces your speed. Wired will get you the full speed from your connection.

If you are using a cellular based ISP, then you will be getting a slow connection.

congratz on the purchase man, a computer as a "hard work paid off" gift is awesome. Lol it is true internet is basicly the cause of many slow downloads. Forgot to suggest a speedtest >,< wired connection is better than wireless too. Just like Spawn said.

yeah but i get anxiety about everything and this is nothing new. im worried ill have to send the damn thing back because i got the defective one! haha hopefully not, though. i was really looking forward to gaming online with people!
Well i don't think it is entirely defective since adobe managed to download at an awesome speed but try going for wired connection cause something probably is interfering with your wireless (ping is high so yea) or your computer is too cold brrrr (too new x) ). Really don't mess with anything else because new computers should be fine with playing games etc on it's inital settings.

I'm so new to this.

I think tomorrow I will be moving the internet into the same room then. Hopefully being a little closer to the router/modem/whatever will speed things up??

will find some things bit faster ^^ but ping is the problem for your steam downloads.

wired might be best for your ping problem.
