As far as I know I am not on the beta, how would I check?
Steam is on my external drive, yes. All of my steam games are also located on the external drive.
The external currently has 874gb free.
And I do appreciate the help, it has been a very long and stressful day in RL before coming home to work on this issue, so I have not been.. the friendliest of people.
This is not a valid save is a game error message.
Here is the deal. Maybe you have had that configuration for a long time and not had any issues at all, but Steam recommends to not install games on external drives.
https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7418-YUBN-8129
"It is not recommended that you install Steam to an external hard drive due to potential performance issues."
You have quite a few games installed there....more than I personally have ever seen, so suggesting for you to move your Steam installation at this point may not be very agreeable with you and we can still try other things here instead. Just wanted to pass that official information on to you and that is why I was asking specifically about the external drives.
Now, please do this..
We have done several steps here to try to get you fixed up. Please go to your library and launch Idlying to Rule the Gods and just try to start a brand new single player game. If you can play the game for a minute or two, try to make a fresh and brand new save file. Exit the game as you normally would after making that save ( I don't know how saves are made for that game so my suggestion here may not be valid).
Fully exit the game as you normally would, taking note as to exactly what you see happend as you do (hangs, crashes, error messages, etc.). After that, try to launch the game again using the "play" button and not any shortcut that you may have and try to load that new, fresh save that you just created. See what happens there now.
Be sure you are not using any shortcuts if you do that. Only launch it from the Steam library.
Steam Client Beta.
Go to Steam in the top left of the client and then "settings" and then "account". Make sure you are not using the Beta there in that new window.
EDIT...If you have not yet, try to disable the overlay in these games as well. That is worth a shot.
Here is the full log file it is giving me:

Have you tried to wait and give it plenty of time to close before making a single click of your mouse anywhere ?
That "hang" and "not responding" message (in the case it is actually not responding and does not need more time) is what has my interest here mostly. It "may" have to do with the save file not working subsequently thereafter.
I will look at you log and try to get back to you. Please feel free to update the thread of any changes or attempts you make to get things fixed up. I may not reply until tomorrow, but others in the community may offer help at some point also. Thanks and good luck to you until then. Sorry but it is late and I have to go anyway.
this game on Unity, your PC is lower than minimal for Unity even since 3.4 it not support old CPU without full support SSE2 problem with new unity on old AMD K8 started in ~2011-2013
if the game requires unity newer 3.3.0 it will not work on this machine
...such systems have not seen for a long time, as if it all the time been frozen in the ice ... some kind of a remote weather station, radar or a missile post in Northern Canada....
antivirus software on this machine is useless: there is the number of unlicensed software, the hack tools, and simply outdated software, creating an abyss of remote vulnerabilities, it is useless, and even harmful - if you run a real antivirus, I am afraid, this OS will no longer start up

If you have revision A2 GeForce 6200, you can convert it to 6600: in RivaTuner - Customize - Low-Level system tweaks - (Graphics processor configuration) - Allow enabling hardware masked units - Active pixel/vertex units configuration - Custom - Customize - check Pixel unit 0 or Pixel unit 1 - OK - Reboot
Before, you will install good cooling system like ZM80C-HP+ZM-OP1 or better, NV43 revision A4 NOT supported!!!
I'm also laughing very heavily at some of the 'problem' programs you labeled:
Glyph is the program Trion uses for it's MMOs such as Rift, Archage and more
Teamviewer, it lets you connect to remote PCs for when you need to operate another machine from afar
Nexon launcher and nexon game launcher are the programs used by Nexon games for it's MMOs such as Maplestory.
SEGA Genesis & Mega Drive Classics <-- this is a steam game. Yes, a game on steam is causing me to be unable to play steam games >_>
Firebird + SAM are programs for being a virtual radio DJ, it connects to shoutcast servers and broadcast music for others to listen to.
Sierra utilities is installed by many sierra games such as caeser 3, the kings quest series, etc
that is the newest version of open office, which is a free program that works similar to MS Office.
I could go on but at this point... yeeaaaaah.
Actually, it's not.

Which, compared to the requirements to play a unity game form the unity website:
https://unity3d.com/unity/system-requirements
That does look compatable to me.
I think at this point i'm just going to accept that these games are not going to work on my machine and move on.
Teamviewer site was hacked and users was attacked 1=2 weeks ago... have nice day, it's you choice
and torrent clients make big backdoors on XP, newest OS or Linux not affected
XP still operated good, but using it with steam and internet, torrents not best idea
it's called adwertising, in really, different game used different versions unity and not compatible
- this right way, use this pc to play old games via emulators
and use new for steam and online games...
and if none of those specs are any good, they'd change it.
And becuase 2 out of my 200 games don't work, and every mmo i play ( rift, DDO, everquest, etc ) all work on this machine, yes i should not play anything but emulated games on it. brilliant.
You my friend, are a joke. Good day to you. *unsubscribed*
Consider that developer that said he installed a Virtual XP OS on a machine to test this. There is no way he had as much software installed on that test run as you do on that computer there.
Also, the main reason I kept leaning towards problematic software conflicting, was due to the "hangs" and "not responding" messages that you have, concerning these games.
Sorry about all the trouble and time you spent on this and for any suggestions I gave that were not fruitful and perhaps caused you to have to go in circles there a bit.
To be fair, Seven7 is a very intelligent and helpful user in these forums and knows what he is talking about concerning the points he made above. Just passing that on.
It seems you are not interested to further troubleshoot the problem, as that would almost surely involve, at a minimum, uninstalling all the software he pointed out (most of which I missed), and I highly doubt that you wish to do that.
EDIT..I read over 2 or 3 years ago that you are six times more likely to get an attack if still using XP due to that OS no longer being supported by Microsoft. Please consider that, and consider moving on to at least Windows 7 and on a computer that can run Windows 7 or one that can run a newer OS if chosen.
Thanks and good luck to you always.
