HOW TO USE A PROXY SERVER WITH STEAM

HELLO GUYS, I WANT YOU TO HELP ME.
I HAVE AN INTERNET CONNECTION WHICH CONNECTS THROUGH A PROXY SERVER AND I WAS WONDERING IF YOU COULD HELP ME CONNECT STEAM THROUGH THE PROXY SERVER. WHEN I START STEAM IT DOES NOT START BECAUSE IT CONNECTS THROUGH THE PROXY SERVER. THANKS

You're not allowed to use IP proxying with Steam.

i am not disguising my place of residence. my internet is from the workplace so the administrator has put a proxy server on the internet and the steam client cannot connect through the net.
i just needed help to allow steam client through my workplace internet not disguise my place of residence

As far as I know you cannot either way. They can't physically know if you are using the proxy to circumvent restrictions or to access Steam legitmately, if it was that easy to do then their system for stopping proxy users would be flawed because everyone would claim they use it legitmately.
The only thing I can say is to get your Admin to add an exception to Steam servers so they don't run through the proxy. Otherwise it's highly unlikely anyone at Steam can do anything.
