Does the activation code in your store bought game still work on another computer?
Hey Steam Community, so it's like this, my hdd just died and had to buy a new one, long story short most of my games were deleted and lost and therefore I had to re download and install them. Now I began to wonder what about my games not in steam? Those games that needed me to input an activation code? If a computer breaks down and you buy a new one can i re install my game in the new computer? will my activation code still work? Thanks guys :D

Depends on the game and if it has another form of DRM/restriction. Usually you'll be fine. If you have a physical case for the game, it'll tell you on the back or in the manual.

It depends on the game. Some games have DRM that only allows you to activate a game a certain number of times.

Of course.

Those codes can be used as often as you want.

It does depend on the game. If it's tied to some forms of DRM, there might be an activation limit, otherwise you can install it without any problems.

Any specifics on what games?

Skyrim: Legendary Edition but that is a steam game, and Starcraft 2, which is not a steam game,..

Both those tie the key to your accounts so you don't need them again. Just log into the service, download the game, then play. In some cases you can just transfer the files over to the new system and it will detect them, avoiding a large download.

Yep. Skyrim activates on Steam, and the key is only used one time. You don't ever need it again (except to verify your account if something bad happens, so hang on to it). Skyrim will be in your Steam Account.

Starcraft 2 registers to Battle.net, so it should be the same thing. Just download the Battle.net client.
